    Sorry to hear that.
I think you need to chase. Mine was inappropriately broken and I chased ( more fool me,should have kept quiet and gained a slightly higher rate of interest).

They should email head office. When that happened, it was swift but it took two calls to get them to email head office.

  • Will be interested to hear how you get on uk_Steve. Asked for mine to be broken on 6th October and still no action. Insisted that a complaint re Kaupthing's inertia be flagged up for my pending case and also sent letter of complaint last week to Administrators of Kaupthing, Singer & Friedlander with copy to ING - no reply to that either as yet!

meight sound stupid to you, but i would ring them now because they did do what they said on the phone today for me!

  • Asked for my Term Deposit to be broken 6th October and still waiting. Sent letter of complaint to Administrators & copy to ING Direct. Reply indicates that they have up to 8 weeks to investigate and respond after which I can refer matter to Financial Ombudsman Service - but I need the money now!!!

Rang again today to try the Steve_UK approach but same old story re no timescales and no promises other than someone will call back. Informed by telephone advisor that she had not had many calls this week re closure of Term Deposits - is this true and if so few why is it taking so long?
  • Someone did call back- a very helpful member of KE staff who was sympathetic to my plight and seemed to get things rolling immediately such that I can now see my money plus interest returned to my easy access account - many thanks to 2cats1kid and uk_Steve for their advice. Will now test the BACS water with a small transfer to linked account - need the money for major home maintainance!
