Hi. I am hoping someone can help because I am getting so stressed. I had my long telephone appointment last week and we are due to start out DMP with CCCS on 1 December when we make our first payment.

We have applied to the Co-op for a joint basic account to which they have said yes. We are just waiting for all the information through. However this isn't going to get here in time for hubby's wages to go into and for the direct debits to be moved over. So the end of this month everything will be going into our existing, well overdrawn account.

    Karen

Just to say that I rang Coop and they gave me my sort code and account number over the phone the day after they received my application. You can then pay in straight away. Just ring with your ref no.

louloujs, can keep posting an update in this? You are just a few days ahead of some of us on this. I didn't get chance to ring today what with work and kids, but I am hoping to take a few hours off tomorrow to sort it out.

    hoping for some advice...
we have a fixed rate mortgage (fixed for the next 9 years) and a variable secured loan (15k over 20 years) taken out for home improvements 18 months ago. we are not having trouble paying at the moment but are concerned that if first plus decide to charge us more per month we might struggle. we took out insurance (£3673.50) with first plus, our loan provider as they refund the cost if payments are not missed in the 1st 5 years. for this reason it seems like a bad idea to switch to a fixed rate loan provider as i imagine we won't get our insurance money back. are we doing the right thing not changing anything?

    Hi There,

I have posted this question elsewhere on DFWB thread then noticed this one!

I am about to start/send of dmp letters through cccs. Some of the info I have says that Barclays will offer a basic account to current account holders starting a dmp. Is this still true if they are one of the creditors included in the dmp via my overdraft? I know I can ask the bank, I just havent been able to get in yet (gotta work :() I was just wondereing if there have been any instances of them saying no. I did get a good suggestion for another account elsewhere, staying put just seems easier in a time of confusion!

    Thanks

    Hi,

Please could i use this opportunity to ask for some advice. My wife has a BLS debt taken on by her after i went through an IVA and LTSB went after my wife for the debt(joint current account). The debt was handed to BLS and we have been paying the debt off monthly for the last 3-4 years.

    1. We were offered full and final settlement payment which we took advice on but BLS didnt respond to us at all so the opportunity went.
    2. BLS phone once a year and usk us to increase the monthly amount - when we try and say no they go on and on about how we MUST increase the amount as demanded by Lloyds. We have increased the monthly payment every year so far and personally i think they are being pushy. We have gone from £20 per month to now £30 per month. Whilst we could afford it, we have never seen a statement or details of the debt or how much we have paid or how much is outstanding which is ludicrous.
    3. Can we stop the standing order until we get a statement or is that stepping into dangerous territory?

Any help with the 3 points would be great - sorry its so indepth.

    Thanks
    Graham

Hi, I posted on the DMP support thread earlier with an update - take a peek, just had my letter in writing declining basic current account with coop dated 21st but I already have the sort code and account number by phone. No paperwork yet though, but I know the account is there. hope you get time to make the call.

I have a rather complicated situation with the Northern Rock. We have a personal loan with them (unsecured - £19,500) which costs £197 per month. At the moment my sister kindly pays this for us (I have no pride left!!) via direct debit and therefore this one is not a problem but CCCS say I have to include this in the DMP as no creditor should get preferential treatment. However, what I'm worried about is that if sister stops paying the DD we are in effect £197 worse off and will only have £200 to pay DMP as opposed to the £390 CCCS have worked out. Also due to the large debt I'm scared that if we go onto a payment plan the Northern Rock will apply to make us bankrupt. We also have another smaller unsecured loan (£9500) with the Northern Rock which is paid along with our mortgage - we needed this extra when we took the mortgage out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I self-administered I wondered if I could leave this out of my calculations or would my other creditors see it on my credit file (do they look at this when you send in your DMP offer?).

I am so worried about these two loans as because our mortgage is with the NR they may just pursue us for the whole lot - almost £30,000 is a lot of money they could recoup if we went bankrupt.

Also - I am paying back a student grant overpayment (not a student loan) - this is interest free so should it be included in my DMP? They are happy with their current payment.

    Hi Ruthie70

Unfortunately we do look at offering the surplus between all creditors to make things fair if you do enter into a DMP with us, so all creditors would have to be included onto your list of debts. This would also include the grant overpayment.

If you self administrate your plan it is entirely up to you how you wish to disperse the money between your creditors as you are handling it yourself, but if the other creditors are made aware of this they may not be happy about it.
As far as I am aware creditors would only look at your credit file when you apply for credit.

Creditors making people bankrupt is not always in the best interest for them as they run the risk of wiping off the debt they are owed. Sometimes banks are more likely to consider going for a charging order against the property to secure the debt if you have a mortgage and loan with them, to try guarantee they get the money back at some point from the property.

If you would like to talk through your situation again you can call back and arrange another appointment by using the number on the paperwork we have provided.

    Regards

    Hi there,

As yet there is no guarantee that such a legislation will be enforced, so there is certainly no reason to be concerned at this stage.

    Hi there councillors,
I have heard that come next april, new european legislation comes into effect which gives creditors the power to force people to sell their houses if they are in debt, fall behind with their payments or if they are in a DMP, this will effect hundreds of thousands of people myself included as I have a DMP. I am worried that come next year I am going to loose my home. Is there any truth in this, I have seen that there is an online petition to the government not to give creditors this power. many thanks for your time and for being so sympathetic to those of us who are struggling to get out of debt.

edited to add: here is the link to the petition http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/chargingorders

Hi, when is the last date in the month i can set up a standing Order ?so it reaches you in time. Thank you.

Hi Keith. To gurantee your creditors get paid on time, the last day the money could leave your account via a Standing Order would be the 10th.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello everyone,

I am 25 and have about £12,000 of debt mainly as result of gambling. Last month I spoke to Payplan and am now starting a debt management plan with them. I have 4 payday loans currently and am paying off 2 with my wages tomorrow. 2 of them I can not afford to pay and they are on my DMP with Payplan. Payplan have told me that I am likely to get bombarded with calls and letters from these two companies (Payday-Express.co.uk and Poundstillpayday.co.uk). I am really quite fearful but I cant afford to pay them. I sen them e-mails and a letter with a postal order to Payday Express but have heard nothing back. I make my first payment to Payplan for £228.00 on the 1st November. I don't think they can do too much for me until they recieve my money, although I do have a case officer and have done all the paperwork I need to do for the time being. I am scared I must admit.

Any advice for me please? Jon.

    Hi jon,

    Thanks for your message.

As long as all your payday loans are included in your dmp, you have nothing to be worried about. If they are not call Payplan and ask them to add them on to your dmp.

If the calls do start, you can write to the creditors and ask them to remove your number from their database.

    Good luck with your dmp
