Hi Sarah,
I am overdue for a review actually, I had to put it on hold as I needed to wait and see if I was going to be made redundant from work. Fortunately I haven't but I have had to take a pay cut.
I'll ring in the morning.
MDWProud to be dealing with my debts

Hi Ollietatts,
I believe providing you have at least £100 per month excess income over expenditure(excluding your debt payments) you can qualify for CCCS help.
I have been with them for 18 months now and they do not charge for the excellent service they provide.
If i was you i would get away from a fee charging company ASAP as those fee costs could go towards reducing your debts rather than lining the pockets of the Fee charging company.
I am sure one of the advisors will be along shortly to advise you better than me.
Good luck0 -
Hi my partner and I owe about 25k on credit cards and pay out 700 per month which we are finding absolutely impossible. If we were to call or write to the individual companies requesting some sort of help what response do you think we will recieve, and in what form. thanks simon0

Hi. My partner and I earn a total of about £86k a year with me contributing about £34k of that. We have a loan with less than 2 years to run with a balance of about £8k, and two credit cards with a total of £16.5k.
My partner (husband) has a very poor credit history so all of these debts are in my name. We want to move but don't want to go anywhere until our debts are clear as the minimum payments are costing us the extra mortgage repayments we would have. So, we've set ourselves the target of getting rid of it all within 18 months. We have four kids, 2 of which are in nursery, and we pay csa for one other; so although our joint income is a lot by any standard, with the debt we have now, it doesn't cover our expenses. BUT, with the debt gonw, we would have lots of disposable income. Given i earn less, and am part time, and that all the debts are in my name; what do you advise for getting rid of the two credit cards as quickly as possible?
Many thanks
Hi Rachel,
Thank you for your message.
When you say you don’t have enough to cover your payments do you mean priorities, or priorities and minimum payments?
If you have enough to meet your minimum payments and your priorities you could look at ways of increasing your income through overtime, PT Job, quidco etc and any extra money you have you could put towards the debts. If you start clearing the higher interest cards first, this could save you money in the long run.
If you don’t have enough to cover the minimum payments and priority expenditure then you would need to put together a financial statement, this will detail all your income and expenditure. Depending on how much surplus you have left over will determine what your best advice would be. If you would like an appointment for us to look into this for you, we can be contacted on 0800 138 1111.
Hope this helps and good luck with your 18 month challenge!

I'm not sure if I am allowed to answer this post, please feel free to delete if necessary.
racheylou, please post on the Debt free board in the meantime whilst you wait for a CCCS counsellor and you will receive loads of advice and suggestions on how to reduce your outgoings if you post an SOA (statement of Affairs, incomings and outgoings).
Hope to see you on a new thread.

Are you 100% sure that this is a HP agreement? Sometimes finance companies will give you a personal loan (motor loan) rather than a HP agreement – double check this and let me know.
Is Black Horse aware that you have sold the bike?
Hi Sarah,
Yes it is a HP agreement.
No Black Horse is not aware that I have sold the bike. That's what I am so worried about!
Many thanks
Tomso
Hi Tomso,
As the Bike is on HP it is owned by Black Horse until the final instalment is paid along with any fees.
As this is the case it may be that Black Horse would refuse reduced payments and pursue you for the debts through court i.e. a County Court Judgment.
If you are unable to meet the full payments, you would be better informing them of your situation so you know where you can stand, then we would be able to give your further advice on how to deal with the debt.
Let me know how you get on.

thanks, ollie.
Hi Ollie,
A dmp is not the best option for everyone, so you would need to have an appointment with a counsellor first of all to see if this is an option for you. If it is, then we would send you all the relevant paperwork and you would just need to cancel down your current dmp.
If you would like an appointment, please call 0800 138 1111.

Let me know how you get on, this could be one of the factors.

Hi Simon,
Each creditor does work differently so you might have a better response of some than others. The main thing is that you are dealing with your situation. If you are no longer able to meet the full payments then you need to see what your best options are going to be.
You need to try and keep on top of your priorities as much as possible, so if this means cancelling any non priority direct debits (credit cards, personal loans etc) then you need to do this as soon as possible. Pay them what you can afford as a goodwill gesture.
If you would like the CCCS to take a look at your budget for you, and talk through the options, please call 0800 138 1111.

Thanks for that reply. my wife has informed me that we actually got a cccs account as we went though all the details in november. She has fished the forms out of the cupboard for us to make our token payments with. Can you tell me what will happen next once they recieve this information. I think we may be able to do a dmp. How do we go about this, do we do it prior to the token payments or can we do it afterwards. Many thanks again for your reply simon0
