after an unexpected outlay i am only able to pay around £200 towards my dmp this month instead of £400

are creditors likely to pull out even though im trying to make a payment, it is definitely for this month only and have had a good two years with no missed payments and always paid on time

    Hi Biglad,

If you have not got the money, they can’t have it. The most important thing is you stay on top of your priorities and let us know as soon as possible so we can let your creditors know.

If you call our client support department they will talk you through the process etc

    Hope this helps.

Hi I am a Newbie here! I am Just starting a DMP with cccs. I always pay my Credit cards by transfer on internet banking. The Bank account that I use is closing and I have opened a new one. Can I pay My Token payments via my usual transfers before my Dmp starts and my bank account closes?
I have to say What a 'refreshing bunch' you CCCs guys are!!

Hello and welcome to the boards!

You would be able to make the transfer via the internet that would be fine. The only reason we say no direct debits to creditors is so that you stay in control of your money at all times.

Hope your dmp goes well. If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM I will be happy to help. On the main board there is a DMP mutual support thread so you may also want to post there.

i have 2 accounts with hsbc and also a loan with them. my loan repayments come out of one account but over christmas there were insufficiant funds in that account so the bank took the repayments from my other account which had money in that i had put there to buy my sons presents. can the bank do this. i have been telling them im having trouble paying the repayment amounts but the bank dont seem to want to help me they just say they cant change things and instead keep taking money then charging me for going over my overdraft. . im in financial hardship. what do i do

    Hi Robin,

    Thanks for your message.

Unfortunately they are able to do this as they have the ‘right to offset’. I would recommend that you open a basic bank account as soon as possible, with a bank where you owe no money.

Once you have your new account open, ensure that you have any income paid into this account and any priority direct debits to be debited from here. For your unsecured debt pay them what you can afford by standing order or payment book. This then gives you control of your bank account and they will only be able to have what you can afford to pay them.

    Good Luck

I have a DMP with CCCS which I have been paying since February 08. I haven't missed any payments but this morning received a letter from Lewis Debt Recovery on behalf of CL Finance asking for the full amount of £2920.60 (which is a Barclaycard credit card debt) to be paid immediately. The letter states if they don't receive this amount by 1st January (and a Happy New Year to you too!) they will take futher action to recover the debt.

A payment of £10.62 has been made to them every month through my DMP and this has come completely out of the blue. Is this scare tactics and should I contact them directly or speak to a CCCS Counsellor after the holidays? Obviously I don't have the full amount to pay and don't want to be bullied into paying any more than I can afford. This letter arrived along with a letter from Tax credits asking for an overpayment of £1104!!! So I'm feeling slightly upset and fed up at the moment. Help!

    Hello,

This is just a standard collections letter, nothing to be worried about. Send us a copy of the letter and we will start sending the payments to Lewis Debt Recovery. They key is not to be pressured into paying them anymore than is affordable. So stick to your normal DMP payment.

If the debts change hands again just pop them in the post and we will deal with them for you.

With regards to your Tax Credits overpayment – You will need a review of your account so we can treat this as a priority in your budget and build in a montly payment. Overpayments are quite common so easy enough to sort out.

Hope you start feeling better about it all soon ;)

    Hi,

I have a DMP with CCCS since 2006.

My question is that one of my creditors is still charging me interest and as it's more than is being paid to them so debt with them is increasing every month and is cancelling out the reductions made by paying the other creditors.

The creditor has been asked on numerous occasions to stop the interest but has refused.

Is there anyway I could request that the payments be reordered so that this creditor's payment at least matches the monthly interest or would that be seen as favouring one over the others?

I am about to ring and redo my budget and increase my monthly payment but I don't think it will be enough to cover the interest for this creditor.

    Thanks

    MDW

    Hi MDW,

Unfortunately there is no way of making your creditors stop the interest and charges, however we can ask them to reconsider for you.

If you call client support, they will be able to look at your budget and see if there are any areas that the creditor could have a problem with i.e. high expenditure.

When was the last time you had a review? Again creditors do like an update every 12 months, so if we can get them a new budget out this may help.

Let me know how you get on.

  • Hi. My partner and I earn a total of about £86k a year with me contributing about £34k of that. We have a loan with less than 2 years to run with a balance of about £8k, and two credit cards with a total of £16.5k.
My partner (husband) has a very poor credit history so all of these debts are in my name. We want to move but don't want to go anywhere until our debts are clear as the minimum payments are costing us the extra mortgage repayments we would have. So, we've set ourselves the target of getting rid of it all within 18 months. We have four kids, 2 of which are in nursery, and we pay csa for one other; so although our joint income is a lot by any standard, with the debt we have now, it doesn't cover our expenses. BUT, with the debt gonw, we would have lots of disposable income. Given i earn less, and am part time, and that all the debts are in my name; what do you advise for getting rid of the two credit cards as quickly as possible?
    Many thanks

I'm not sure if I am allowed to answer this post, please feel free to delete if necessary.

racheylou, please post on the Debt free board in the meantime whilst you wait for a CCCS counsellor and you will receive loads of advice and suggestions on how to reduce your outgoings if you post an SOA (statement of Affairs, incomings and outgoings).

Hope to see you on a new thread.

    Not a problem. :)

While this thread is here primarily to ask the CCCS advisor's questions, if anyone sees a post by someone who would benefit from posting on the main board then please feel free to suggest it. The important thing is that people get the help and support they need.

Are you 100% sure that this is a HP agreement? Sometimes finance companies will give you a personal loan (motor loan) rather than a HP agreement – double check this and let me know.

Is Black Horse aware that you have sold the bike?

    Hi Sarah,

Yes it is a HP agreement.
No Black Horse is not aware that I have sold the bike. That's what I am so worried about!

    Many thanks
