    Hi CCCS_Sue,
Thanks for your reply, however, with respect, this does not actually answer any of my questions, and only tells me what I already know from reading several FAQ's on DMP websites.
I probably should have said that I have a lump sum I have made available to her to hopefully pay the lot off in one hit, I was querying the most economical way of doing this. Incidentally, we'd love to have gone with a non-fee DMP but her debt wasn't big enough (as I said in original message) - is there a fee free DMP for a 'small' debt such as this then? The ones I saw were only interested in debts of £5k+.
I know you will have successfully helped many people on here, and appreciate that it's difficult to advise without knowing the full case but I am feeling very disappointed by your response. I/we don't want to manage the debts ourselves, I just want shot off them asap. The money is in my account ready to go, but I'm unsure of the best way to go about it.

    Hi car77

We would not have a problem with a debt being “too small” for a DMP
As long as there were a minimum of two debts then we would certainly look at her circumstances and see if it was her best option. In some cases, other options may be more suitable.
If you have a lump sum available then you can offer Full and Final Settlements.
A Full and Final Settlement Offer is where you offer the creditors a one-off lump sum payment, of less than the full amount owed, in return for them agreeing to write off the rest of the debt.
The creditors might accept a settlement offer based on a one-off payment but you would need to negotiate an amount with them.
I have a Full and final fact sheet you can use which helps you to work out the offer you should make and also gives sample letters you can use.
I will PM these to you
    Regards
    Sue

    I have a Barclay's credit card, I make a min payment of £123 a month
the interest a month is £120.60 which means there is only £2.40
going off the debt. I did phone them telling them that I was having difficulty paying it back I was told " You will just have to pay it wont you"
it is not the paying back but the interest that is adding to the bill
I pay an extra £100 a month on top of payment it will take me about 10 at that rate to pay back and if I only pay min payment it will take 40 years to pay back:mad: :money:

  • If you can afford the payments then it probably is tough, if you can't then you need to ask them for help. Most companies will give you three months interest free to help you get back on your feet but you have to be honest with them.

  • Then its best to explain you are having trouble which should be temporary, remind them of their obligation to help customers who are having difficulties. Ask for a temporary arrangement with interest frozen.
Will you be off more than 6 months, I know its not been that long but do you have any indication as to how your condition will effect your future work. hopefully you will make a full recovery.
Sorry have to go to a new year party now. Try not to worry, have a good evening and a great 2009.

  • Hi CCCS

After getting advice from the CCCS, I contacted my creditors to explain that I am now a full time student with no job and will be making £5 token payments. They have now started calling me. I spoke to NatWest today and the lady said that they had not received my letter explaining my situation. She also said that I need to get the CCCS to call NatWest or write to them on my behalf stating that they are a 3rd party. I was not aware that the CCCS could act as a 3rd party for me. Is this the case?

I then received a letter from the Halifax saying that they require an up to date financial statement. Do you think this is also what NatWest require?

    Thank you
  • Hi all,
I'm a newbie so this is my first post. Hopefully someone can give me some advice.
I recently completed my CCCS debt management plan online and should get my pack soon. I've also opened a new account with the Yorkshire Bank. As advised I cancelled my direct debit with my crditors so I could make the first DMP payment in January. However one of my biggest debts is a loan with Natwest, and they still took the money out of my account, which has left me up the creek without a paddle. (Only just found out that they can do this as my bank account is with them). I went to the bank today to explain my situation to the bank manager, who told me to contact the lending dept. The girl I spoke to there was very helpful and said she would pass my situation onto their debt management team but they may not accept an offer from the CCCS and could still ask for the full payment each month. (My wages will be going into my Yorkshire bank account from Jan onwards) I'm really worried as my mortgage is also with natwest and it seems like they can call all the shots with the payments. I just want to start my DMP with CCCS but now it looks like it is doomed :(
Any advice or help would be much appreciated,

    Thanks!
I'm always in the brown stuff (marmite)....only the depth varies!!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone, I would just like to say i'm new to this forum and sorry in advance if I ask any questions which have alraedy been asked and answered. I have recently been in touch with cccs after nearly getting into an IVA with a company who wanted money straight away and probably wouldnt have been able to get my IVA agreed (lucky escape). CCCS have been really amazing and advised me that an IVA would probably be a none starter due to the fact i get monthly bonuses at work which can be as high as £1000. They recommended a DMP and i am in the process of getting that set up after a phone interview next week. Following from commencing proceedings for an IVA myself and my partner have began sending token payments but haven't yet sent them to all our creditors. As i'm not as clued up about DMP'S yet as i was with IVA'S i was wondering if anybody could help me with a few general queries i have. Firstly - with a DMP do you have to include all creditors? as my gf is already paying an old univeristy debt to a collections agency which we did include in the schedule for the IVA (will they accept a reduced payment and will CCCS negotiate this like the others?).
Also can you make additional payments over the agreed monthly payments from time to time (i.e pay extra from my work bonus)?
What happens if a creditor doesn't agree to the DMP? do we then negotiate with them direct, seperate from the DMP and if so does this affect the DMP with the other creditors?
Has anyone ever resulted in a CCJ from a DMP? my job could be affected if i got a CCJ.
I think i've probably typed way too much already so i'll leave it at that. Thanks in advance fro your help and thanks once again to CCCS for the fantastic service they have provided me up to now. Good luck all in your goals

hi i'm very interested reading all your stories and questions! i've been juggling (fairly unsuccessfully) for years now, every so often getting on top of things, but only by luck or consolidation or extending my mortgage, and i'm sick of the constant worry and sleepless nights - this month i can't pay bills of approximately £400, and my son and i only have about £120 to live on till payday(food, petrol...etc)

so i should do something about it obviously!
i have 3 credit cards totalling about £20k, 2 loans (one secured one unsecured) for £15k and £3k respectively, my mortgage is up to date, i owe scottish power £200...
and i am ashamed to admit that this is all approximation coss i do such a good ostrich impression!!!
anyway i think it's time to sort it out, how do i begin please?!
