Hi
I've worked out my creditors and my income and outgoings. I've got £65 k of debt and about £700 a month to share amongst them after all my living expenses are met. This would mean it would take about 8 years to clear my debt assuming all interest and charges stopped. Does this seem a workable period of time for a DMP?0 -

I had a loan with Egg before I left the UK £4000. I also had a credit card with a balance of £195 outstanding with Capital One. I had left instruction with a family member ( and also a large some of money) to make sure he was making installments into my uk bank account to ensure I did not miss payments on these debts. I have come to find out he did not do this after saying he had been. Both have these have gone to collection agencies and showing as two defaults on my credit report. I am hoping to apply for a mortgage soon as I am getting married in seven months. Can anyone please advise me the best way to go about dealing with these. They are both with NCO Europe or RMA. I have recently received several letters saying to contact them immediately as this is outstanding a few years now! Is it possible to have someone contact them on my behalf as I cannot at the moment pay a great deal monthly. Any help would be appreciated.

Lee
Hi Lee,
Thanks for getting in touch, it sounds like you have been really let down by the friend you left your money with. I presume that you are not going to be able to get this money back from your friend, but if you can then that could be used to offer a full and final settlement to the debt collectors.
If you cannot get your money back then it would be best to try and make arrangements of monthly payments to these debts. Obviously you do not want to agree to payments that you cannot afford, so it would be useful for you to put together an income and expenditure budget to calculate exactly what you have available to offer them. You can also use the same figures to justify any offers you make, as they will be able to see what else your money goes on.
You can put together a budget statement using our online debt advice programme called Debt Remedy. Click here to go directly to Debt Remedy.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I have a DMP with CCCS, it is is my name and all the debts are mine. I have included my OH current wages in the plan. Question... if my OH gets another job at increased wages does that have to be included seeing as the debts do not belong to him. thanks .....
Hi 50broke
If you wanted to clear your debt quicker you would make us aware of any changes or improvements in the circumstances. If you do not make us aware of improvements it will just take longer to clear your debts so the choice is really yours.

I currently have an arrangement with CAB to pay my creditors £1 per month.
One of these creditors is Natwest(regarding overdraft)
I still have an account with them as I have a personal loan with them.
Money is going into the account each month because the loan insurance is paying into the account.I dont use the account for anything else.Do i still have to post a £1 postal order to the bank each month(costing £1 for recorded delivery) or can i just go into the bank and pay £1 into the account?
You are ok to go into the bank and make the £1 payment, as it doesn’t matter how it really gets to the account as long as it is deposited into the account to acknowledge the debt.

I have a pile that has come in the last week, 3 of which have informed me they are taking further action like DCA, Defaults etc, and another 2 HAVE moved the debts to the DCA. I have written a letter and enclosed these 2 to send to yourselves because of the change in information etc..but should I be sending everything that comes in the post?
Many Thanks as always.
Vicky
If you are on a DMP with ourselves and making a regular payments you need to let us know regard your debts changing hands. If we don’t know who has the debt we can’t send your payment to them. If you call the number on your monthly statement you should be able to advise us over the phone of the change of information for your creditors.
You do not need to inform us about every letter though, but if you have any worries you can always call.

Hi, I've just been advised to apply for bankruptcy but forgot to ask a few questions first so i wonder if you could answer them for me.........
during the bankruptcy can i....
keep my current mobile phone contract? (£20 per month sim only)
keep my current utility bills in my name?
Any advice would be appreciated.0 -
Hi Vanilladelia
Unfortunately we disburse the funds to the creditors later on in the month and this is the same for all the creditors. They will have a payment for April, but it will be later rather than earlier in the month. If you have made your token payment to them for March hopefully they will be ok with this for April.
Regards

Thanks for the reply, the thing is we were not able to send token payments as my husbands wage last month was very low due to some sick leave in January and so were unable to pay our old DMP company for that month before joining CCCS.0 -

Hi Marcus.
8 years is generally considered a reasonable amount of time time to clear your debts via a DMP. As always, I would suggest either ringing for an appointment or using Debt Remedy to see whether a DMP is the best suited option for your situation.
Hope that helps,

Hubby & I got our home repossessed, eviction order is tomorrow, First plus have also managed to get a possession order and have been granted it - i don't under how, anyway the court paperwork came through last week stating firstplus had been granted the possession order and also a money order??? Today i get a letter from a company stating they could help us as we have a CCJ, obviously from First plus as its the same amount owed. We didn't know anything about the CCJ until this letter - we had offered firstplus an amount every month but haven't heard anything - i really don't know how to proceed with this. Any help grateful received.
Hi Such Is Life,
Thanks for posting. The money order is basically a County Court Judgment (CCJ) for any shortfall, if your house does not cover all the secured debt once it is sold following the repossession.
If you do not have details of what the terms of the CCJ are then you could contact the court that issued the money order and ask them for the details. Information would normally be within the "Particulars of the Claim" section of the order you received from the court following the hearing. This would normally have been discussed during the repossession hearing at the courts, though it sounds like you missed the hearing.
If you need immediate advice about your finances following the repossession then you may want to call our helpline on 0800 138 11 11, we are open 8am to 8pm.
Hope this helps.
