Ask a CCCS counsellor a question

After umming and ahhing I have decided to try and get my DMP up and running just for 12 months as by the end of this time period I will be in a much better position - is this a feasible option and is it worth speaking to the people I owe money to myself in the short term or should I just send out my token payment - which I intend to do tomorrow and leave it to the CCCS?
Thanks, Lou0 -
Hi I am not sure if this is the right place to post this question so i apologise if it isn't.
I'd like to get a copy of my credit file from equifax but wondered, when i apply for it does that automatically tell any people that i owe money to where i live?A home is not a home ..... without a dog0 -
Thanks, but I have done all of the above and didnt find it much help. I will be earning about £900 a month. Should I get a loans to pay off my debts, because i have so many in different areas?
All my credit cards are no longer interest free and acc1 is charging £100 for each month am over drawn with fees too.
Hi flowers
Have you had an appointment already to speak to one of our debt counsellors?
We would not recommend taking out credit to repay the debts you already have as you will end up getting further into debt.

We are about to start our DMP with you in April. My contractual payments to MBNA are £25, yet I have been informed that CCCS have changed this figure to 3% of the balance-one card now has a contractual payment of £145. I will now be paying £12 more to the CC than what I was ever asked to pay pre DMP and will be giving MBNA MORE money on a balance of £4800 than my NR loan with a balance of £10k. I seem to be getting mixed info when I ring CCCS, can you please clarify one way or the other.
Many thanks
MD
We would pro rata your DMP payment to the contractual payment required by the creditor.
As there are so many credit cards and they all have a different ‘minimum payment’ we always use 3% of the outstanding balance. This ensures that all of the creditors on the DMP are treated fairly. As long as you provided us with the correct contractual payment required for your loan then it should be fair.
I hope this clears it up.

Hello, I am in the process of setting up my DMp with CCS and my partner has received a court fine which i had not included in my budget when i filled the on line form in. How can i get this added to my budget? (we will be paying £50 per month til November)
Thank you
All you need to do is contact us on the number provided to you on the Debt Remedy site and we will amend your budget to reflect the payment to the fine. In general terms, this will mean that you would pay £50 per month less till November and then increase your DMP payment.

Hi, I have DMP and one of my debts is an overdraft with barclays and they removed the overdraft and didnt accept the amount we were going to pay them, we have cintinued paying them in the mean time, my brother yesterday sent me some money but put it into my barclays account instead of my current one with hsbc, i need that money and when i have rang them they said that dept isnt open so they dont know if i can have the money!! can they stop me from getting that money?
Hi aims83 and thank you for your message
I am afraid all you can do is contact your bank and ask them to return this money that has been paid in by mistake.

My only concern is that they expect the 1st payment by the 5th/6th April, when we will only be paying CCCS on the 1st which I believe wont be distributed until the 25th.
Hi Vanilladelia
Unfortunately we disburse the funds to the creditors later on in the month and this is the same for all the creditors. They will have a payment for April, but it will be later rather than earlier in the month. If you have made your token payment to them for March hopefully they will be ok with this for April.

It would be advisable to make only a token payment to your creditors before you start the plan, and that amount would be whatever you can realistically afford. This can even be £1 if that’s all that’s available as you need to prioritise yourself not your creditors, and stopping the use of credit is vitally important if you are trying to become debt free so use the money for your essential living costs first.
For the plan to be set up we need to receive and process all your information to activate your plan so at this time unless we already have your paperwork it is more likely to be May. The start date would be confirmed in the welcome pack you receive once we have all your information.

Hi
If my girlfriend moves into my property and I have adverse credit history, will she be affected.
Nothing will be held jointly and all household bills will be in my name only.
Your credit files are individual, unless you hold joint accounts or have made joint applications for credit which in turn would create an association with the other person.
Below is a link to more information about credit files.

Hi
Quick question - I have received my letter from CCCS asking for statements etc and am getting this together at the moment and hope to send it back to you this week.
CCCS have enclosed a letter for me to photocopy and send to my creditors with a box to insert the start date. When would this actually be - 1st May or 1st June. Would 1st May be enough time for CCCS to contact all my creditors? Can I chose for it to be 1st June to save a bit of money first?
Thanks
