DVD Wars: Slash The Cost Of Rental/MSE Discussion

That's interesting! Because I took out a free trial on 3rd March and my first billing date is 2nd April- so clearly they're lying when they say it hasn't been available for over a year!0

I have never had any problems with Amazon. I was on their £4.99 cheapest option (i.e. 2 dvd's per month - 1 at a time) and they have almost every time sent the number one item in my list.
They have most of the newest films available.
Even better than that, they have just reduced the monthly cost to £3.99, which seems an absolute bargain to me. :T0 -
I am just coming to the end of my free trial with Love Film and when I went online to cancel and go tarting to Blockbuster, an 0800 number appeared on screen. When I rang it, as an incentive not to cancel I was offered 3 months unlimited rentals for 1 months payment of £9.99. I thought £3.33 a month was to good to refuse so I agreed0

do not use lovefilm whatver they offer - it is a con - it is almost impossible to get the freebies they offer - and they keep sending stuff - so they do not cancel your account ....
I am currently reporting them to trading standards.0 -
I think a lot of them do this. I've found that the only way to cancel with some of them is to remove all the DVDs from your list as soon as you've sent the last one back (that way they can't send you any more). Then as soon as you see the last one has been returned, then and only then cancel. If you cancel before it has registered as being returned, they may just say you haven't returned it and keep your account open.0

Just paid my local library £2.99 to rent "City of Ghosts", then went to Asda and found it on sale for £3.00! Highly recommend checking Asda's sales as they are sometimes cheaper than renting.0

Rather than renting I've started using a website called www.xiddi.com to swap them!
I've listed the dvd's I no longer want and through the site you pass them onto other site users for points which you then use to "buy" dvd's from other site users. No money is involved except the cost of postage (about 63p per dvd) and it's a great chance to pick up some favourites.0 -
