My wedding is 30th July, when do you suggest I order? I'm going to start weightwatchers next week as i've put on a few pounds since starting my new job - I know i'm not going to drop to a size ten by July but I know I can easily lose a bit if I put my mind to it - so I want to leave it as late as possible so that I don't need to get it re-altered.

im getting married the same day! im doing weightwatchers too, have lost half a stone in 2 weeks, and aim to lose another stone and a half by the end of january. im looking to order from either landy or milly but am waiting till the end of Jan. will order the size i am then, as you can get a dress taken in but its very difficult to get taken out! im going to barnardos in edinburgh to try dresses on in January to see what styles suit.

TBH I don't think offshore do the inner corsets. There is so much work involved that I don't think it would be cost effective for them. Either than that, you can end up paying much more for a gown which isn't really up to scratch. I know one member here asked for extra boning but never got it. What she did get was boning which buckled.
In my professional opinion, if you want a gown with the inner corsetry that Hollywood Dreams do, Blue do, Maggie, Stewart do, then either buy it off the peg, or seek out a repituable dressmaker and see what you are getting before handing over your cash.
    Again, my professional opinion only.

Missk maybe able to shed some light as she had a Hollywood dreams gown made offshore.

Kind of got pushed into ordering Milly by other people who think it is a good idea! I'm not 100% at ease with the idea but have procrastinated long enough and thought I may as well get on with it.

If they can't do the inner corset then so be it. If I am happy with the dress when it comes perfect, if I'm not then I am determined not to be upset. At the moment this is the path of least resistance!! Still excited though.

And so you should be excited. You can always buy a corset.

I'm not even sure if a corset is necessary - I just liked it on the dresses in the shop. I'm a size 6/8 - is it size related or just to give a better line in the dress?

TBH it's more like hanger appeal! The line of the dress is much better however. It saves all that extra scaffolding one has to buy!!
  • Hi Everyone
I got an email from Milly today saying
    Thank you for your email.
Yes, we received your payment and measurement with thanks.
Before proceeding with your order, i have something need to confirm with you.
1.Please confirm attached dress is what you want us to make
2.For this dress it is made by taffeta, not silk taffeta, as silk taffeta's fabric width is not wide enough
7.For lace, please kindly note that we can not find exactly the same lace as the picutre, please select lace from attachment.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you again for your email.
Please have a look at the dress and see if you know what lace they mean? Is it the lace flowers scattered over the dress with the diamontes on??
The dress is Belgrade by blue by enzoani

Just make sure they are proper lace applique pieces and not merely cut from lace and sewn on.
