You cannot ask someone to "leave space" I'm afraid. If you wear a bra, this will need to be worn for the measurment. Likewise, if you don't, you can expect a small amount of alteration (none if you are extremely lucky) to be taken around the bust. Bras have a habit of lifting one's boobs and putting them where they should be rather than "hanging" freely lol. (unless, again you are a lucky little sow and sow whith perfect pert boobies!)
It has been quite common for me to lift a clients boobs and put them in the dress where they need to be. Then you can begin to take in waist or bust seams where necessary.
Many ladies require a small amount of alterations to their gown, mainly because of underwear changes/choice. :D

LOL Linda - please dont tell me she had to be cut out of it or the fire brigade come and rescue her!

The zip got jammed. This is because, when you have a fitting, dresses should never be tight. Each time you move, your ribs and chest expand, (especially when you breath out) If you "vanity measure" your main issue is going to be getting INTO the dress if you have a zip. Too tight dresses will put strain on the closure and fabrics can pull apart from the seams.
I told her to rub some soap over the zip teeth.
I can only work to a customers measurement form. If they bluff me with their sizes, they will get something that won't fit! Not rocket science.

Sorry, came back to edit. In my opinion, I would say best to wear it and be measured and then if you decide not, not rather than the other way around.

blimy whats the landy thread doing on page 3 - updates please people!!!

Anyway - just had a brainwave that I should have had earlier for those planning on ordering next year - chinese new year falls on 14th Feb 2010 next year

For some reason I had it in my head that it was in January and the factory would be closed then!!

So change of plan - think i am bottling it after the fiasco with Rebekah so will be ordering on 14th December instead - will tell them wedding is 17 th April - which gives me a 2 month buffer and gives them 4 months to make it in time for the april date including new year.

If I loose weight i'll just have to get it altered, but its coming off slow now anyway
    Had a thrifty wedding 17-06-10:love:

  • I am shocked what happened to Rebekah, all you need is honesty, not to be fobbed off! Shocking. I am ordering my Landy this week, I know it is VERY early but if it doesn't work out I will be ordering from a shop. I just need to know what it's like ha ha.

I am getting measured today on my lunch break and dont know why but am soooo nervous!!!!!

Is anyone else due a wedding dress in the next couple of months so we can exchange notes!!!!! I am ordering mine on Friday or Saturday - EEEEKK!!!!!!!!
  • :Thello, well I knew the site landy bridall a few days
and I'm afraid to make the purchase because I live in Brazil and I'm afraid of paying and not receiving someone could confirm that I received?:j
  • Hi stephani,
Landy seem to have a pretty good reputation but if you pay by paypal you will have some protection and also if you pay by credit card.
I'm sure others with more experience will be along with more advice soon.
    Good Luck xxx
  • Hi all

I've just been doing my measurements today with my mum and am about to log on to landy to order my dress. I'm a bit nervous in case I've measured any wrong, but hopefully not! I went to try on the 'real thing' yesterday and I'm so excited to get mine ordered! Little Madam, I'm doing exactly the same as you and ordering it now, just in case I need to make another order... but hopefully not!

If there's anybody on here in the next hour or so, who's done all the measuring, could you give me a shout as I have a quick question before I take the plunge!!
  • hi zoo girl, Iv'e done all the measuring and happy to answer your questions:)

    Hi Charleypink

You're a star! Its really just one of the measurements that asks you to measure from 'hollow to hem' - I'm ordering an A-line dress, so am I supposed to measure from the hollow of my neck to where I want the dress to stick out to, or just down to the floor, so that they can follow the design of the dress. Other than that I think I'm ok. Have you received your dress?
    Thanks for you help x
