I doubt we will ever see those 2 back (if they are even 2, prob same person) MissK keep calm look at the 2 posts , they don't seem genuine , I mean they don't even know where the dresses came from, I'm sure if you ordered a dress you would know the company name, There is no Lundy bridal, the are probably Uk Bridal shop owners trying to put the frightners on you. Which is not the way to gain business.
    Booo!!!

2 dissatisfied out of...how many on this thread? Don't panic Missk. Bad news always brings about a nervousness. You just gotta look at how many here have raved about Lundy (lmao) In the same way you could get bad items from off shore, you can get bad ones here too. You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

As I said in my earlier post, 'they' are both very hard to believe and I replied to 'them' while they both still had a green light so were still logged in. Hope I got the message through!

It is absolutely amazing that somebody would even bother to post like that - do they really think we are that gullible and easily led when it is so few bad comments in the whole of this thread?!

Most of us are on here and thinking of using a company such as Landy because the dress shops here are either too expensive or just don't meet our needs, so anybody out there thinking of trying to stress out real posters don't be so cruel! That isn't the way to drum up business and is very underhand.

Right, I'm off my soapbox now! Sorry for the rant.
  • Sorry but I've seen the origional and all the embroidery is covered in beading....there are only a few sequins on the copy...you can't tell the quality of the fabric from a picture..does it have a built in underskirt ?

OK Mad Mack you don't seem to believe my story, I do have pictures of the dress my friend ended up with but, as her wedding was only last month, I obvoiusly couldn't put it on here without her permission. She dosn't have a picture of the piece of rubbish she bought over the internet as she got shut of it on ebay!!! and was glad to see the back of it.

Just trying to give some friendly advise, believe what you want girls, but be VERY aware.

Which dress are you referring to Scraggy?
Women marry men hoping they will change, men marry women hoping they won't! Inevitably they will both be disappointed.

  • I can see why people buy on the net - and the one reason is money.
we all want the best for what we can afford......thats why i buy things cheap on ebay! lol

but heres 2 sides of the arguement-

If you do buy a gown off the net, and its great quality, and you can get someone you know to alter and steam it then great .......you saved some money...

however, most shops have not got silly prices on thier gowns, its just that the magazines and internet TELL you they have. They are selling at the RRP that is put on by the designers who put all their time and effort into providing new gowns and designs every year for everyones taste. If the shops dont charge what they say - the shop wont be there in 6 months to receive a gown, after not being able to pay for the rent, staff wages, vat, bills, lighting, maintenace etc etc......so if they sell too cheap, all the brides that do want thier service in the end are going to be let down by them when they go bust. Plus if this carrys on, there wont be any bridal shops left out there.

Its a bit like saying you want a new car - you know the price of them, but you could just go and buy a copy off the net - yes you can get a second hand one, but a copy will be what it is most of the time, but then you could also get a sample of a gown from a stockist that will discount heavily to make way for new stock.

The reason retailers get so upset by net buying is that they are the ones to pick up the pieces in a hurry IF it does go wrong! Most of them truely care about your special day, and want to help....thats why they do it. Its not a nice industry to be in if you dont love it, and its a lot of time, worry, stress, blood and sweat that goes into most bridal shops! Planning 1 wedding a year is a lot, but retailers have around 300 or more to help with.

Also, if the net buying takes over, and they end up closing, its their money, life, mortgage, roof over their kids heads that they have to think about.....imagine if in your line of work, there was something out there that could destroy you like this.

Maybe what would help is for us to find a way for brides to get samples and pre-loved gowns cheap from a normal shop so that the shop stays around for years to come, and the brides get the service and quality they deserve. If theres a way that someone can come up with a good idea to help do this.......then please speak up!

I know alot of shop owners that would be more than willing to help....and who knows, maybe if this can get around to shop owners all over the UK, then we can all help make things better for everyone!?
I also know alot of them that sell on ebay, hold sale events, have sample sales....but its hard to get this info out there to everyone wanting a "good deal for a low price".

    any ideas would be appreciated!
