i dont think we will be having this debate soon once ATOS get to work next year anyone that can walk even a few feet will fail their medical .
my wife has a blue badge she doesnt look disabled ,doesnt use a wheelchair has a blue badge BUT no one sees her after shes been shopping constant pain cant sleep even with painkillers she has something wrong with her spine docs say if they operated on her could make things worse or put her in a chair permantlay.
if anyone pulled her up and i was with her well i bet they wouldnt do it again:silenced:0 -
For the record ...
The Blue Badge scheme doesn’t apply to private car parks. Anyone, who’s disabled under the terms of The Equality Act 2010 can use a disabled parking bay. If they’re also Blue Badge holders, they don't need to display it.
Unfortunately, the Act doesn't say that able-bodied drivers can't also use disabled parking bays. OK, they shouldn't, but they can.
This probably contravenes the terms & conditions for the car park. But, the terms & conditions for the car park usually state that you shouldn't park in a disabled bay without displaying a badge. This, in itself, contravenes the Act.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
And long may ASDA continue the excellent policy to fine .. .. in fact .. .. increase the propensity to fine wrongdoers parent & child, disabled and able-bodied. Motability received £30,000 from ASDA last year and Tommy's receives a share of the ASDA fines.
All in all a damn fine thing, the Blue Badge holder correctly displaying has nothing to fear, in addition to the good works above, the fines clear the chavs from spaces needed both disabled and parent & child.
NOTE : all Blue Badge holders should always behave responsibly and display their badge appropriately per the instructions / requirements in the blue book that was issued with the badge.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Hi needs some help for a disabled relative that is working but taking employer to tribunal for disability reasons. The employer wants to know when my relative became disabled when did it start, how does he answer that question. He has given all medical records over to them but they are still asking that question.
Any help with that question would be appreciated.0 -

If he is claiming discrimination for reason of disability, he needs to demonstrate that he meets the definition of disabled within the EqA. This is not as simple as it sounds, and unless it is one of a few prescribed conditions, his medical records may not provide an answer. Your relative needs to seek legal advice if they are unsure.0 -
Also disabled or I belived abled as belive my condition lets me see world diffent way to every one who is "normal" what every that is lol
I am bipolar and tell the people who need0 -
I have had a disability all my life, I've been independant & working for many years, but now at 62yrs., I need help for everyday neeeds.
Kidney failure & all its attendant problems are not visable & transplants are not a cure. So while you may think all older people feel they are entitled to a badge, perhaps they are like me there problems have increased with age. I hate the loss of independance but my blue badge helps a little.0 -
I have a blue disability pass...however...I do understand they are misused all the time and the parking attendants do have a job to do....You only have to explain if challenged. I wouldn't take the huff myself personally...to be honest.....I have given the odd a person a 'dirty look'.....and remember...sometimes the person driving isn't disabled.....I used to drive disabled people around before I was given a pass....some of them didn't 'look' disabled but they had conditions that entitled them to a pass.
I tend to use the electric scooter in the supermarket now......as I came around the aisle one evening....a man about my age (50s)...stared at me in amazement and asked me was I too lazy to walk?....I don't know why he said that....I didn't know him.....was a bit rude I thought.......but no need for arguments.....he may have been cracking a joke...but I suspect he wasn't.
One of the things that makes me laugh (inwardly....not guffawing in the middle of the shop)....is that people start calling you 'Luv' or 'Luvvie'........Aww...the poor thing......she's a scooter.......lol.......however.....no problem......people do want to be kind.....I don't take offence....but I know some do.0 -
Hi
I am currently in the process of contesting the decision they gave me as i am a sufferer of grand marl seizures, IE fits and the reason they didn't award me disability is down to the fact i am not at risk or fainting or seizures when i clearly put on every page that i need a carer for everything, as i have no warning when a seizure will hit and when i do suffer a seizure, i am a danger to my self and people around me.
I need help to move every day else i would sit in bed all day every day as i am unable to get out of bed on my own and when i suffer a seizure i can sleep for days as i use that much energy.
All my partner needs is help cleaning as no i am not lazy i just normally wind up suffering an attack with no warning so then my partner has to stop make sure i am ok, then take me to the loo if i don't wet myself and put me into bed afterwards bearing in mind i cant walk as i will have damaged my legs and he will have to carry me to bed
When i first started suffering these seizures 11 yrs ago i had a job which i lost as i was suffering 40 - 50 seizures a day they then put me on epilim thinking it was epilepsy which then made me suffer around 100 seizures a day
i have hearing aids from damaging my head from collapsing in the street
i have been know to wake from a seizure to find a car Tyre in my face as i am in a heap in the middle of the road, no one helps they just honk there horn.
I have also been known to collapse while making a cup of t so i end up wearing said t just as its been made as well as making mashed potatoes before and wearing the whole pan of just boiled water and potatoes everywhere
i am posting to ask what i could do to improve my chances as i am going to suffer these seizures for the rest of my life, i have been back to college with them knowing about my disability and i would love a job but as soon as i mention my seizures as i have to declare them then i no longer am eligible for the job as insurance apparently doesn't cover that.
Please help as the only way forward i see is when it goes to the board were i get to go too i have a seizure in front of them which has happened at jsa meetings and then i have been kicked out of said meetings and sent home
i really would like some help
thank you all0 -

Hello Nikola
All the things you have outlined indicate that you clearly are unable to look after yourself nor to go out alone. and if you suffer from Grand Mal seizures on the scale that you claim I fail to see how they can say that you are not at risk.
Who are these people??
I think you need to have someone strong, preferably with knowledge about your condition to help you with your appeal. I am assuming that you completed the form yourself which isn't always a good idea. It's sometimes not necessarily what you say but how you say it. Do you have any current specialist reports to show the DWP for your appeal?
Have you spoken to CAB?
They make an excellent job of assisting with completing the forms. However, at this stage all you can do is appeal. If you need to re-submit a new application do consider them.
I do hope that your doctors/specialists are supporting you to help improve your daily life.
Best of luck
Mo0
