  • Hi everyone, I am absolutely gutted about this whole Lapland thing,
I am a young parent with two children that couldnt afford alot for christmas this year so this was a big treat for them.
I am due to go on the 17th of Dec but after reading all of your comments i dont think i will be wasting my petrol travelling from brighton to there.
I am going to see if i can get a refund on the tickets tommorrow but i didnt pay by credit card so am a bit nervous.
Has anyone managed to get a refund yet on tickets that have not been used?
  • Poor man had sent me another email earlier too which I've just found:

    Dear Alex

Thank you for your e-mail. We have had dozens of complaints today about this - it has taken us by complete surprise.

We dressed the snow for Lapland New Forest last weekl, when we left it on Thursday 27th November the snow looked great. We have done snow dressing for quite a few other events like this up and down the country but this is the only one with problems. To be honest I do not know what has gone wrong.

I am aware that the problems there are far greater than the snow but we are trrying to get hold of Lapland Uk so we can go back and at least make sure our bit is right.

Please feel free to call me.

    Regards

    Darcey
  • no disrespect but the photo on the bbc site looks more like a travellers site than a festive grotto.
Have to tell you that the Matchams site has been the venue for car boot sales and markets for many a year - nuff said.
Would not have even entertained this because far too expensive.
Prefer seeing Santa somewhere like Paultons, Ower - well organised or Manor Farm at Bursledon because is not a rip off just good old fashioned fun.
  • Hi all

I spoke to my credit card company today and they said I'd need proof of false description for this lapland debarcle. They said print off the website pages, but the website is now down. I note a couple of others in this thread have said they've printed off the pages - does anyone have copies or downloads I could access? Obviously willing to pay costs associated with obtaining copies.

£150 down the drain otherwise

    cheers

  • I don't want to distract from the seriousness of this as I too am totally disgusted by how we've all been treated but if you want at least one smile from this situation look at this (not for those who are easily offended)

I've printed out all the pages as I thought the site might get withdrawn! Here's some of the claims and marketing hype. At some stage I'll type it all up and post it if people need it:

    LaplandNewForest claims (from web site)

Lapland new Forest - where dreams really do come true.

We want all our visitors to have an unhurried, enchanting and most special time …

Children are coming from all over England and other countries to see this wonderful event.

So if you do not want to be disappointed: reserve your "wow" in wonderland now.

The Lapland New Forest site has full disabled access.

Lapland New Forest will provide qualified First Aid care on site in case of any accident.

    Enviroment
Care of the environment and it's animals is dear to Lapland New Forest.

Snow Business (the company making our snow & ice fx's) are committed to using eco-friendly products and machinery that have been produced by people earning a fair wage. They are the acknowledged experts on producing winter effects on sensitive sites and areas of special scientific interest (SSSI), developing an eco-friendly ground cover that biodegrades as a fertilizer. Snow Business also work as consultants for organisations such as English Heritage, advising them on safe techniques and location protection systems for their historic landmark buildings.

Clearing up Lapland New Forest is an integral part of the show. Santa leaves little trace ... it's the reindeer who leave the mince pie crumbs.

We really do wish that we could show you just how incredibly spectacular Lapland New Forest will look at night.

We are investing substantially in our theme park and it's many entertainments to make completely sure that you are totally satisfied with your visit.

We have deliberately under-priced the park (yes, we believe you'll agree that the experience could be priced higher) as we are as tired as any and everyone with not often receiving good service and value for money and in this sad time of mismanaged economy, gloomy broadcast recession and unending price increases et al - we are especially proud to be constructing a truly magical and affordable event that will not only employ many people, but will help warm 1000's of young and grown-up visitor's hearts for Christmas and the New Year 2009.

To allow you to take in the amazing attention to detail and enjoy the full magic of our Christmas theme park - tickets for each day are limited. We want all our visitors to have an unhurried, enchanting and most special time and we hope that you will stay with us for what we estimate to be 4-6 hour visit.

Public interest in what promises to be the ultimate Santa's Grotto is extremely high ... children are coming from all over England and other countries to see this wonderful event.

So if you do not want to be disappointed: reserve your "wow" in wonderland now.

Look on facebook group 'LAPLAND NEW FOREST IS RUBBISH AND NOT WORTH £25 's' - someone was smart enough to copy and paste the website pages and is offering to email copies out...
  • hi ring your banks if you paid by debit and they should be able to dispute the payment as what you have paid for is not being delivered i am with halifax the only bad bit is they will probably put the money in my account before getting it back from the scum that have done this so if they dont get it back from them they will take it back out of my account and it could take three months max good luck to all of us also on the consimer direct website there is template letters that you should all send to crapland uk by recorded delivery and give them seven days to reply or you can start legal proceedings.
  • I hate to say I told you so...this thing smelt fishy from the start.

Assuming you booked by credit card I'd suggest contacting your card company NOW and requesting a refund.

If the card company require any proof then the Southampton Daily Echo is covering the situation: www.thisissouthampton.co.uk, and also the Bournemouth echo: www.thisisbournemouth.co.uk

Also, lodge your complaint with Dorset trading standards. They are investigating whether any laws have been broken.

I suspect that after this bad publicity the whole venture will collapse over the next few days; I really can't see it continuing.

I sincerely hope that everyone gets their money back.
