Fell in tesco, no wet floor sign or mat, what should I do?

Hi there,
This lunchtime I went to our local tesco express and it has be a drizzly day but the rain had stopped when I went, it's only be drizzling a bit.
I walked into tesco and fell in the doorway inside the shop with quite a splat I have hurt my knee and my lower back, but not requiring hospital treatment.
I have a copy of the accident form that the staff member filled out, and she has written in it that the floor was wet and no sign was up.
I do not agree with the "compo culture" we now have but I do feel Tesco should recompense me. They had no sign up and the floor mat was pushed out of the way and the floor had not been dried after the rain. I am injured although not seriously.
Should I contact Tesco directly, I do not wish to pursue with a "where there's a blame there's a claim" company.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you
Kirstie

The least you should expect is an apology from them and hopefully as a gesture of good will perhaps some money off vouchers. Glad you don't agree with the compensation culture cause neither do I. Accidents happen.
The only time I'd agree with a comp claim if there was deliberate neglect by the company or serious injury to yourself resulting in a loss of earnings or long term disability.0 -

Tell me whats wrong with that statement.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Sorry to be unsympathetic, but I'd say 'get up and go about your business'. Everyone has accidents every single day. I cut my thumb on a tesco taco box last night but I'm not gonna ask for money from the packaging people."a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0

Did the store assure you it wouldn't happen again though? You might not have been badly injured but someone who's already disabled might have been.Trying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)Loan from Friend = £20000

we get people tripping all the time and then threatening to sue when really it isn't our fault. We always put wet floor cones up when we've been mopping but !!!!!! you just walked in from the rain as has everyone else surely common sense would dictate that the floor would be wet because peoples shoes are wet?0

Wear shoes that are appropriate for the weather. Don't leave your home during the rainy season if you have not learned the effect that rainwater has on various surfaces. Don't write Epimenidean posts.0

If the former, you should write a letter detailing exactly how your injury has put you out of pocket, ideally with supporting evidence. For instance, if you couldn't drive home and had to get a taxi, you should provide the receipt for the taxi.
If the latter, by all means write to them with the aim of highlighting the problem to ensure that others are not put at risk - that, to me, would be the most important thing.
Personally, your attitude to me suggests that you in fact *do* agree with the compensation culture as you seem to believe you are entitled to money despite the fact that it would appear you are completely fine and have suffered no loss as a result of the situation.0 -

ooooh new word alert! what does Epimenidean mean Kim? just looked it up but can't make head nor tail of it!"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0
