I'm impressed by the double standards.
What's wrong with making legitimate money from a large company, or an insurance company. Other posts want hundreds of pounds from banks, as "goodwill" over a few misplaced letters, or as compensation for loss of interst over a few days. Even this post has suggested a goodwill payement in the form of vouchers.
If there has been a case for compensation, go for it.
(even the last poster, while suggesting sue Nike, has a good reference to the "refund and retain" policy of tescos. Don't tell me that hasn't been exploited in this forum, just because you are overcharged by a few pence, why should you get the entire product refunded, then retain it?)

The so-called 'double standards' started with the OP when she said "I do not agree with the 'compo culture' we now have but I do feel Tesco should recompense me". You can't have it both ways, but if you really DO want some form of compensation, then DON'T start your sentence with "I don't agree with 'compo culture' but..."

Personally I don't know what is wrong with taking some responsibility for your own actions! Everyone's slipped at times (myself included) and most people just get up and get on with things. More often than not, other than a few bruises, the thing that hurts most is your pride. And how exactly does one compensate hurt pride?!
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.

it may be that the mat was waterlogged so removed so that people didn't come in with dry shoes and then get them wet on the mat then walk wet patches all over the Tesco floor. I don't think anyone was criminally negligent here except perhaps the OP who couldn't watch where she was going and slipped, what if some pensioner had tripped over her?
  • goodness me talk about taking an issue and running with it, maybe I could suggest some days out sites and you could all get out more! Good point though, I will get on to the trainer company straight away and sue them, and then i will sue the floor mat manufacturers for not making a good enough mat, then I will sue the floor makers for making a floor that could get slippy, hm, who next.

The original point has been missed, and by compo culture I mean people who fake injury and accidents and fraudulently claim, maybe I should have been more clear. I merely want Tesco to take more care in the future.

AND, I would lay my life on the fact that all of you are hypocrits anyhow, just like the people who slag off benefits claimers but given the chance would do it themselves. (for the record I am not one of those people). Perhaps we could draw this to a close and you can all stop getting your knickers in a twist.

For compensation there needs to be BOTH negligence and loss. If both apply then there is no reason not to seek recompense. The so called compo culture is discredited when claims are exaggerated or speculative.
If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.

    Now you are talking.

I think your next target should be GOD (aim high) after all he makes it rain and that was the root cause of your accident.

I would start by contacting the Chruch of England (they act as God's representative on earth, well in England they do) and telling them that you slipped over in Tesco on a wet patch on the floor and ask them to make you an offer (you may need to provide them with a little more detail, but you can see what I am getting at). Ask them for a claim form and a copy of their complaints procedure.

After that you may want to consider other religions in case you are barking up the wrong tree (i.e. the C of E folk have picked the wrong god and you should be chasing another one with your compensation claim). I suspect one of those Norse gods may have something to do with the weather, but I would be cautious about upsetting the mighty Thor or things could get a whole lot worse.

    :D

This site is riddled with loathsome pond-life grubbily stuffing their pockets. From stoozing to abusing consumer protections intended for genuine malefaction to serially stealing from film rental companies to pocketing cashback to abusing compensation intended for mistakes to trying to destroy 'free' banking. It is all very sordid and unpleasant.

    Er......OK.

You seem to spend an awful lot of time here considering how you feel about the site and the posters.

Perhaps you should find yourself somewhere more suited to your ideals to post?
