I think some people on here are a little sensitive to compensation claims and tend to fly off the handle when anybody dares mention the 'C' word. Some others on here are completely barking, but for the most part people are helpful and there is some very good advice to be found.

    Hope you feel better soon.

When I fell over in Tesco's I was fairly compensated - I got a big bag of pic n mix and got to choose any toy I wanted :D
To be fair, I was 6 and I did hit my head on the metal foot rail thing they used to have running round the bottom of the shelves - I was a happy child when they gave me sweets!

I think your next target should be GOD (aim high) after all he makes it rain and that was the root cause of your accident.

    :rotfl: :rotfl: LMAO :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • If you want some vouchers or indeed just to warn Tesco then write to them outlining what happened and advise them to make sure the mat is in front of the door and to perhaps consider mopping up all the water people drag in, so as to ensure no one else is left with the discomfort and pain you now have. I dont think thats unreasonable.

I dont think the OP was ever considering taking legal action. I for one HATE the compo culture we're getting deeper and deeper into, my friend has done it 3 times to earn a quick buck, and its not even that quick because you have to go through embarassing examinations.

But anyway, for the huge huge company Tesco is im sure they should give her at least a chocolate bar to make her feel better about her aches and pains, or even just to make sure the mat is in the right place..as silly as it sounds :T
  • Go to the Drs Mrs Pickles and have a checkover. I slipped in our local spar shop years ago, and went to drs next day, he recorded the bruising I had. Two days later I was hobbling along the road and a lawyer friend saw me and asked what happened. Result was spar shop was sued and I received the princely sum of £800. (It was a long time ago).

the US Senator claiming against God has had the case dismissed due to the defendants lack of an address (you couldn't make it up), so you'll need to be careful.

perhaps use your local church as an address. CoE or Catholic, it's all good:rotfl:

write them a letter in the first instance, if it was raining, they should have measures in place to either warn people or keep the area safe.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?
  • tesco seem to do very little -when i was working there the person who had been filling the juice before me hadnt stacked the cage properly and as soon as i moved it at least 30x500ml bottles landed on my foot.what did they do? nothing!!!

Forum Etiquettecollapse_tcat.gifarrow.gif Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps
  • thank you for all of the sarcastic comments, they are truly appreciated. Firstly, it had stopped raining some time before I went into the store, secondly, I am not stupid I am quite aware that peoples shoes are wet etc etc...my point is that it could have been someone elderly etc etc. Fair enough I am not seriously injured but I do now have some knee and back pain, and feel that if the store had taken better care regarding the floor I wouldn't have slipped. I did not go running into the store in stilettos, I had trainers on.

KimYeovil- If you have nothing constructive to say then do not say anything at all...you clearly have too much time on your hands to reply to this post three times!

I will write to Tesco to point out that although we cannot be forewarned of acorns falling out of trees, they should have had the mat provided in front of the door for wet shoes to walk over and they should have taken more care keeping the floor as dry as possible, I did not see that it was wet, maybe I should have crawled in on my hands and knees.

I will now know not to post here again, as it seems to me that there are many people sitting around all day thinking of sarcastic ways in which to reply to posts, good luck to you all, have fun.

Please go and get a job, preferably downstairs in a carpeted office with squeegee's for drying shoes mounted outside. Insist they give you a seatbelt so that you don't fall out of the chair and sit as motionless as possible so you don't strain anything. Maybe you could sign things or put small light things in very light boxes. Nothing too strenuous.

Seriously though, I agree that you shouldn't have been injured, a correct Risk Assessment should have been performed. Yes, you should have risk assessed that you are incapable as a human being, faulty even, and wrapped yourself in a lot of bubble wrap to ensure that whatever happened you'd be ok!

Try this in future, sure you'll look silly but at least you won't get hurt. But then how would you make money???

    It's a conundrum!:rotfl:
