i've been trying for weeks and got the same error messages. I told BG about it and they took 2 weeks to come back and tell me to clear cookies. My tecky hubby said that was a load of crp but we tried it anyway, it still didnt work. Currently hanging on the phone trying to get signed up for over 10 mins. Not sure I want this after reading wrong tarrif stuff above.

The clear cookies etc is a load of crap, it's simply a problem their end with the software they have running.

When I called I called around 20:30 on the 0113 number, was answered immediately.

Well, since discovering that I could save £200+ a year (according to all the comparison sites) if I switch from Ebico to BG for my electricity, I decided to do my own calculations to double check this is right.

According to my figures, and using the most current prices available for both BG's Click energy 6 and Ebico's Equipower tariffs, and also taking account of any discounts offered, I will in actual fact only save ~£70 a year!!!!

So, are BG trying to deceive new customers or are all the comparison sites wrong????

Needless to say I've decided NOT to switch as despite the small saving my gut instinct has always been to steer well clear of BGas!

Even for £70 I'd switch, £70 is £70. Checking the comparison sites against my own calculations, they have come out almost the same. I'd switch even if the saving was £10. The less I can spend the better, like shopping, I'll walk to another shop if I can save a few pence on an item - I refuse to pay more than I have to.

    Comparisons can't be trusted???

That's a whole other issue. Not sure I have the patience to work it all out for myself.

It's usually down to the person selecting the wrong tariff they are currently on, or the comparison site for some reason not having the current tariff there to select.

At the end of the day it's not difficult or time consuming working out the tariff yourself, only a couple of minutes.

Cheapest is not always best!!! ;)

I'd rather pay the slightly higher charge (we're talking a little over £1 a week extra) just to have complete peace of mind and a hassle free service than switch to BG!

I only considered it previously as £200 is quite a substantial saving and may have been worth the risk.

Electricity is electricity, doesn't matter who you pay your bill to, it is the same company delivering it to you.

Here "Cheapest is not always best" has no bearing. It is pointless to think that way.

£1 a week is better in my pocket than in someone elses pocket, even if it was 25p I'd say the same.

I'm not one of these people who don't worry about the pennies - I'm too sensible.

If I can save a few pennies on a tin of beans I will walk to the next shop. When I do shopping, I check the prices first and then only buy from that shop the items that are cheapest and then go to other shops where others are cheaper.

It does not pay to be a fool with money.

If you think it isn't worth switching for a £70 saving, then to me, you have more money than sense.

LOL - No I don't. They were always one I'd said I'd never go back to, however when there is a saving to be made, I'd be completely stupid not to.
