Saving H,
Do your expenses!!! You have £600 to claim which would put you at nearly 2k towards the Paper Hat challenge. That is a great figure! Do them!!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
DFD:Nov 22/June 22
Mortgage: €199,712

Hi CMD - Thanks for the encouragement. I may go and look for the receipts now after that!!! However I don't count work expenses in the paper hat challenge as if I spend on a credit card - I (now) have a rule I must clear it the same month. I have a particular cash back card I use for that
The paperhat challenge for me is about pre-existing, long term debt. At best I will have about £120 from my expenses towards the paper hat challenge... That would still be well worth having...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well I've just found all my receipts - they actually owe me between £630 and 640!!!! But at least it's all together in one place now so I can send in my claim Monday. I think I might scan it and e-mail it as well as posting it in the hope it goes thro quicker LOL as we are having an early shut down this month and I don't want to miss it. Especially as there will be a further £5-600 of more expenses in December as well! As I say the only good thing about it really is the cashback vouchers... At this rate may be able to get some new trousers or jeans in the new year... :rotfl:
Every time I go on business with work I panic in case in an mse moment I left my CC behind :eek:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just responded on your diary CAFC ......
Just applied for a 0% Sainsbury's credit card. Not sure if I have done the right thing but I think my credit rating is okay. It is 0% for 10 months, 0% on Sainsbury's purchases for 12 months. The reason I did it is because I want to pay money off my loan (6.9%) and have my credit card at 0% (am with Virgin now and 0% until March).
I want to know now if I can get a 0% credit card, as I don't want to pay extra off my loan and then in March revert to a crazy % on the Virgin card. At least if I get refused I can pay as much off the card before March as I can.
Hope this makes sense. It is about 2 years since I applied for a credit card and I closed 2 credit cards about a month ago. Keep your fingers crossed for me! If it does work out I like the idea of all the extra Sainsbury's points that I can use as presents!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi CMD the biggest difference for me between say Alvin Hall and Martin Lewis is that he positively advocates transferring debt to 0% so as long as you use it for what you intended ie to transfer existing debt not create new debt that I think it makes sense.
You just have to be disciplined and not spend. Just remember that with the above card you need to pay it off / transfer it within 10 months as otherwise the balance transfer interest rate will be bad...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi all
I need to wait for my accounts to settle down on Monday/Tuesday but I am hopeful for making payments of approx £1600 this month!!!!!!!! I got all my accrued leave paid to me yesterday as it was my last day at work in my old job - New job Monday
May wait a couple of weeks to make any overpayments though to make sure I get into the pay run for December or else there will be no more pay for me until the end of JANUARY
CAFCGirl - I got chicken pox a couple of years ago I found calamine lotion infuriating and Eurax much better (but I know most people are the other way round). Obviously paracetamol will help to keep your temp down (or you could turn off the heating and OH can warm his hands by your face) and the best hint I ever had was from a friend's mum who is a dermatologist. Once the poxes have finished scabbing and falling off (how lovely, anyone eating) use vitamin E oil in the purest form you can find and apply it directly onto your skin. It will help to minimise scarring and promote healing. I used Vitamin E capsules and pierced them to get at the oil.
