  • Hi Everyone, I am back from Lithuania, got home about 2.5 hours ago, flights were awful, I never used to mind flying but I really hate it now and get so nervous, the first flight home today was so bumpy with turbulence and the second one we seemed to be going up forever, thought we were heading for space!!!! I've decided not to fly anywhere for a very long time (strange how I feel about it as I've flown to Australia once and Hawaii twice, both long-haul but now I've got kids I just don't like it.

Wedding was really lovely, my eldest two girls looked wonderful as Flower Girls, unfortunately Lexie (DD2) was ill on the day and was sick in the morning, after walking up the isle scattering her flower petals she started to cry and then fell asleep on my lap through the whole of the service which was in Lithuanian and English. On the coach to the Reception (in a big hotel) she was sick again, luckily she only got a bit on the front of her dress. The Reception started at 5pm and just before the main course she fell asleep on me again. She missed the whole thing really, she slept from about 6pm until we had to wake her up at 12.30am, my brother had paid for 2 babysitters so we took her up to the hotel room and they watched her and then we took Alisha (DD3) up as she wanted to crawl around.

The lovely things were they had balloons with long string and a sparkler attached to the bottom, everyone went outside and got a balloon, lit their sparkler and then made a wish each for the bride and groom and we all let them go together, it was so pretty watching all the lights in the sky. They also had a fire works display to the Witney Houston song 'I will always love you', it was so fantastic as the fireworks went off in time to the music, I was so sad that Lexie missed it all she would have loved it.

In Lithuania they don't do the wedding cake until midnight and Stephanie (DD1) missed it as just before it came round on plates she fell asleep. She had made a few friends and they were following her around and helping her on with her bridesmaids shoes when she had taken them off, one of the girls was Lithuanian and didn't speak English and Stephanie can't speak Lithuanian so it's a mystery how they communicated with each other but they were together for a couple of hours.

It was really good but am glad to be home now and can start debt busting again, I have to start listing more on Ebay this week and try and get my debts down by a good amount as it's probably about £23k now, will have to work it all out. Anyway, off to bed now as it's 12.30am.

    Hi all!

Glad you had nice time TooMuch. Sorry to hear about flights though.

I've added my £120 for student loan as it's left my bank account though not quite in the other one yet.

Waiting for a big payment from ebay tonight, don't know why the guy didn't pay last night when the listing ended as they are tickets and I need to get them sent to him asap. Sold cd on amazon as well, first one in ages, that needs to be sent today. Made a sale outside of the two before mentioned as well, sold some unused canvases for £25 and the girl's gonna come and fetch them today. Also put more stuff on my works intranet. Well pleased with my efforts. :)

That sounds like a beautiful wedding TooMuch. It was a shame that Lexie was so ill but I bet they all looked gorgeous in their dresses!

I am not keen on flying either and usually use alcohol to ease the nerves, so am not looking forward to a long haul flight to Oz in November. Having said that, when I went to Borneo on honeymoon the airline didn't serve alcohol and I had to deal with that for 19 hours so I will get over it!

I've had some luck on my side recently CMD, which I'm very happy about. Plus I've started being more proactive and finally started listing the stuff on ebay and elsewhere, and funnily enough, things have started happening! ;)
Will go now and play with snowball to see how/if at all, the 1% drop in interest rate will affect my DFD.

Hmmm, think it'll take a month off, just the drop in percentage. :)
No definite answers yet though and will only update after I've sent the next payment for student loan and it has cleared in Finland and I know how much to take off. Hopefully this will be sorted by end of this month. But it all looks good. :money:

Thanks CMD - my girls looked gorgeous in their dresses, when I get some pictures back I'll try and post one here (not sure how to do it). I only took two disposable cameras but my Uncle got loads of great pictures so is going to send me a CD with them on.

I never used to mind flying but this was the first time I've flown since 2003 before having DD1. I have flown to Australia (Sydney) and Hawaii twice and both are long haul and I didn't mind it then but now I've got kids I think I'm more scared of something happening. Alisha slept through both flights so that was a bonus.

  • Would you believe it I've just caught up on about 2 months of this thread?

PAID - well done on paying off half your debt, and good luck with the job search.
Doodle - hope you're settling into your new home
CMD - congrats! Hope you're feeling ok
CAFC - wow, was jealous to read of your free gym membership! Don't worry about the messy flat, I just tidy up when I know someone's coming round.
starnac - 6k paid off since Jan is amazing!
tirlittan - you seem to be making so much progress, well done on getting rid of the cc debt
savingholmes - how's the new job going?
Shelley - Eton mess - now there's an idea
toomuch - sounds like a really lovely wedding
    fairmorn - hello :hello:

See, I really have read it! I've got a lot of time on my hands this afternoon as I managed to incapacitate myself when I dropped a casserole from a height of 7 feet and it landed on my big toe....which is now twice as big, so this week's gymming has been cancelled and it looks like I can't even walk anywhere :o
