Ah, you will get there in the end. You are very determined. You having a bad day? I was like that a few weeks ago. I think cos my hubby is coming up towards the end of his course and it feels like we will never have a 2nd wage, and it is a long time since we did.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi guys - especially PAID! Where are you?! Anyway I just scraped thro on my maths 30 percentile  but got 87 percentile on my English
giving me an average of 59 percentile which was the middle of the group. 8 candidates now slashed down to 4 but now only 1 job not 2! But I am thro to the final stage in about 10 days time!!! :j:j:j I applied for this job early Feb and I may finally know at some point in May !!! I was so panicking about it - I can't tell you how relieved I now feel!!! Even if I get knocked out at the final hurdle at least it won't be the maths that did it! Hopefully I will win thro and get the job and then I can get on with debt busting again!

yeah not far off.....work was full on this week, next weekend ive got this massive event on and im not confident for it.... which sucks!
DH's wage is low and he could earn much more but he's waiting to get into the fire service, which is his dream which i fully support but it just all feels like such a waiting game.
Im waiting to ask for a pay rise at work, but I have a feeling it wont happen..... there are a lot of non financial benefits to my job which I really appreciate but they dont pay my bills.....
Which makes me more irritated about the debts because if we didnt have them thats £700 a month that would be ours!!!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Is there certain stages he has to go through to get into the fire service?
I would find it difficult asking for a raise as well but I can't in the job I am in anyway cos I am on a fixed contract for 3 years, with a fixed wage so can't ask, even if I wanted to.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

he has to wait for them to recruit first!!!
He's going in to do the volunteering at a part time station as a foot in the door which he will get some pay for if he is called out, so thats something...
but it just feels like im always waiting...Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Great idea about the volunteering.
I know how you feel. I had a little cry last week to my OH about 'waiting' as well. All of our friends are having babies and have houses etc. We have a flat but not where we live (we rent). It is very hard when you feel like that so big hug to you but at least you are supporting your OH to do something he really wants to do.
We will all get there in the end and think of what you can do with the £700 per month when you are debt-free.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I told them that I thought it had a "disproportionate" impact (this is a legal term) on me as a fixed term worker if my salary was not reviewed during my contract. I got a £2k payrise plus my bonus potential got tripled. Sometimes to get you have to ask! They are not legally allowed to treat you less favourably than a permanent member of staff - if you are already on more than them all well and good - if not go for it. Pm me for more info if you need it!;)
Thanks SavingH,
That is good info but really don't think I would get it at the moment because I work in the voluntary sector and my organisation are laying off people so money is tight. I am getting the cost of living increase but when my contract is up I will defo be re-negotiating an increase. At the time I really needed a job, but I do love it so not all bad!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
