  • to be honest op i think it has always been like that in regards to returning an item for exchange or refund without the reciept, only items you can be sure they may not fuss about is items that are branded there own on the label so you have proof of retailer ie m&s, boots etc.. but yeah when you have genuinely bought it and you misplaced the reciept it does peeve you off big time.

I didn't realise that they were now charging for carrier bags. I bought a two coats, pair of boots and four cushions and they charged me for 4 carrier bags.

They've been charging for bags a while now, I think it's another money making scam, how are you supposed to carry 4 pairs of shoes, couple pairs of trousers, and god knows what else without a carrier bag.

that is absurb...why would they do that and invite people to bring there own recycle bags! all that does is give a easy ride to the shoplifter! do you have an option not to pay for the carrier and bring your own?

Why do people always think things are scams? If you watch the news at all you'd know the government told retailers to do something about the amount of carrier bags they get through or face legislation.

for those of you perfect people who have never lost a recept or bought something that doesn't fit obviously TK max is a great place to shop but for those less perfect that yourselves..THey may want to consider shopping elsewhere!!!

If you might want to return something, keep the receipt. That should be obvious. If you've lost it and have no proof that you paid for the goods, then tough sh*t basically. It's not "being perfect", it's simple common sense.

I find it really strange when someone doesn't understand their rights when they buy clothing. I've known them since I was 12 years old and that was 28 years ago!! If you buy something that is somehow damaged or not fit for purpose then you are entitled to a refund. If you change your mind or it doesn't fit then it is up to the retailer as to how they deal with it - a credit note was a common offer a few years ago and I felt lucky if I got one. I never, ever buy something expecting a refund (except from M&S because their refund policy goes back to before I was 12!). I'm still amazed that Primark, with their tiny margins, allow unquestioned refunds, with receipts. I really don't expect that to last forever.

I always keep receipts as a proof of purchase, but only in the hope that if I've made a mistake I might get lucky and they'll give me a credit note.

    Of course it's a scam!!!!

Retailers are still giving away free carrier bags, Morrisons / Sainsbury to name but 2.

5p for a carrier bag which costs no more than 1p is a scam, and I for one refuse to buy into there game.
