  • Sorry, more questions!... Can anyone who has bought this tell me what preloaded software (if any) this comes with? Also, is the graphics chip capable of running games or is it more suited to business uses?

    Thanks for your help.

I just bought a "refurbished" Toshiba 17" laptop, 2 gbs of ram, large hard drive, wifi, webcam, for £299 delivered from PC World.Came with Vista Home Premium. Works fine & has a great reliability record according to WHICH? magazine.
    Nice to save.

windows vista home premium and microsoft works are the main 2 programs. a good tip is to buy microsoft office student edition if you want all the programs in microsoft office ie excel/word/powerpoint etc. i have seen ms office student for around £45 and it can be installed on 3 machines.

i think this is the industry generic standard to get ms works, and office is an extra.

dont really know about the graphics chip, but i can watch bbciplayer in very good quality, and the graphics card i am running is nvidia geforce go6100.

Now discontinued on both sites - next time I will have to learn not to dither!!

Edit : actually, it is still there on Dabs for £60 more but with 3 year warantee.
  • I wouldn't worry about it too much as I ordered one on Saturday and I'm not getting it.

They put throught the VISA payment in a really strange way which resulted in the payment being rejected (lady from VISA explained) and I didn't get an email till 6.15 this morning and then lo and behold there was a "stock problem".

Well done to anyone who did manage to get it just have to explain to DD that her laptop is no longer coming.
