hi everyone, just returned from 3 weeks in france and come back to a blight invested polytunnel. I haven't seen it yet but the chairmen has just been on the phone warning me. Everyone one on the site as just it and now it's just appeared in my tunnel. So 56 plants to be burnt and a l;ot of chutney to make.
Everything else is doing well.
Apologies to people asking for the plans I've been quite ill the last few months and so haven't been online much duye to lack of time but hadn't realised how many more requests for the plans there had been. So let me get some holiday washing done and start the chutney and I'l sit down this evening to start sending the plans.
Really hope you are all getting on well with all your veggies and hope that the month of July hasn't put you off. I've had a few problems which I'll go into later tonight but one to own up to is the huge very stabe a frame of canes I constructed only to find that the 76 climbing beans were actually dwarf:o:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::oKind Regards

hi mum of 4,
I've just pm'd you with my email address...
would it be possible please for you to forward a copy of your 12 months plan.
I'm thinking of starting back up in the garden again... unfortunately I didn't get much done last year due to broken leg. I made a good start this year with potatoes, lettace, onions, spinach (and cucumber and tomatoes in the greenhouse) but over did it slightly and ended up losing motivation after some things died due to drying out.
would like to get back into it again... after setting up an automated watering system
hope you don't have too much to catch up on after your holiday
Thanks,
bookworm1.
ps.... noticed in earlier posting your comment about how staring at seeds doesn't make them grow faster and how you were excited by the first green shoot. I did ok at starting some stuff off by seed earlier this year (although I didn't keep it going).. and I had exactly the same feeling. Nice to know that experts like yourself feel the same way0 -
Hi mum of 4 glad to see you are still growing lol. We made a large wigwam for the beans, but mine never filled it either (broad beans and french beans).
Just looking forward to my first tom ripening up, think it should be any day now hurrah.
Loved the peas we grew, but the kids ate so many striaght from the pod (DD2 who is one -spent most of the summer walking around eating them like sweets, she also liked the broad beans raw when they were small and tasty) we are going have to grow alot more next year.
Got 4 huge pumpkins on a 2 giant plants lol, with the sweetcorn still taking its time. Not sure if my sweetcorn is the right height, most of it is around 1.5 ft tall and 2 have the male pollen bit at the top, but not cobs as yet

Hi Mum of 4,
Hope you don't mind but I have PM's you requesting you plan. I have done quite well on my Lottie this year, but am not too sure about what I can grow during autumn / winter and definately need to be more organised.
Thanks

I've never grown anything but weeds in my life, but since reading this site thought i'd have a go.
Although it was really too late and they were out of date i put some lettuce seeds in a plastic crate outside the back door, i was amazed their coming up.
I had salad last night and thought about those poor people going to McD's
I know it's only a little start but i'm hooked.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Know what you mean Sam it easy to get hooked, we had one bed and a few pots last year. This year the whole back lawn was dug up and converted to raised beds (we are on clay) and we got an 6 by 8 greenhouse lol.
We are going to clear the peice of ground at the side of the house for chickens and another bed next lol.

hi mum of 4,
thanks for sending your plan to me, it looks very comprehensive. you've got such a big patch... however do you find time for it all without it turning into a constant chore??
I have finally screwed myself up and started gutting the greenhouse off all the seed trays with dried up shrivelled dead things in them ready to start trying again. going to go and see if it possible to rescue my tomotoes now which have been allowed to grow wild for the past 2 months....and looking very sickly as a result...
If i am about to start back off again at this time of year.... anyone got a suggestion of what may be good to start with. I notice from the 12month plan that in sept 08 there is winter onions, garlic, spinach, leeks, winter cabbage, spring cabbage and late carrots, with purple french beans in the polytunnel. Would I be too late to try and start them off from seed/ plant as plugs now?
Thanks for your help
