I check everyday.... even dare I say chat to them "come hurry up, we are waiting to see you!"

I am grateful I ONLY left 3 tomatoes outside... I have staggered the sowing so it won't be too much of a disaster! Where do you grow your peppers?

I heard that about funding too... our council has been looking apparently for several years... though I only managed to get on a list 2 years ago (been on another list almost 5 years) as they had no list before then... so finges crossed.. ds2 starts school in sept so it would be perfect timing for me :)

They are on my bedroom windowsill. They won't go into the PT for about 4 weeks. The day time temp's are very high but at night it's only 2/3 degrees higher than outside. However I will sow my courgettes maybe at the weekend or next week and then sow another lot at the end of the month as a back up. I've checked the long range weather forcast and it's not great. Below normal temp's but I always find Bristol tends to be better than the forcasts suggest.

Sorry not been around for a while long story but i have been in Hospital.
I only have a small garden and last year was my first time growing and i have now learned that i started a quite a bit late, but i still had some success with Tomatoes, Lettuce,Onions,Radish. Chillis , Green peppers , Peas but didn't sow enough of these it was just a trail run really Oh and strawberry's.
I did try carrots and these appeared to do well until one morning when i checked ALL had Gone  bar one??
So this Year i am attempting to grow again. During the last week i have been sorting out one side of the Rear garden with flowers/bulbs etc. and the otherside in tubs etc will be my food growing.
up to now i have started sowing in pots in the house ( if this is the right termanology) lettuce, tomatoes, Herbs,Sweet chilli's and pepper all from seed.
Yesterday we bought some potatoe seeds earlies and seconds. ready for planting once the frost easy's off was told in about 2/3 weeks to plant.
Am i much to early to plant the onion's yet?
and can anyone advise me about green beans as i would like to have a go at them? or anything else that i can grow in pots/tubs
ALL advise is and would be greatly apprecaited.

ps. Lettuce have sprouted and there appear to be a minute growth on the tomatoe seeds fingers crossed.:D

    Sounds like you're doing OK.

Peppers and tomato's wil seem to grow at a snals pace but then suddenly take off. Onions can go in now if being planted in containers but if they are being planted into soil just check it's not too wet. Beans for outside could be sown next month. Start them indoor to give them a fighting chance.
    Kind Regards

so how is every one getting on?

With this warm weather I've almost finished digging over my plot. I'm holding back from early sowings outside as the weather is ment to be changing next week.

Today i went to polytunnl to find someone had put a srewdriver into the cover and made a 2 foot rip in the cover. I. gutted but have repaired it.
    Kind Regards

That's horrible. How can people be so mean?

We got an allotment:j. We weren't at the top of the waiting list but the 4 or 5 people above us didn't want an allotment at that end of town. More fool them! It's on a south facing slope so that should add to our growing season:D and the man that had it before dug most of it over really well before he hurt his back and had to give it up, so there's not too much to do to get it back into shape.
The only trouble is he planted single rows of cabbages, leeks, potatoes, sprouts etc in a repeating pattern and I want to plant in blocks, so I'm having a bit of trouble with the rotation.

We've been harvesting potatoes, leeks and cabbages from it and the man next door came over today and asked if he could have the giant walking stick cabbages for his chickens, so I asked him whether he uses his chicken manure...
He's going to bag it up and leave it at the top end for us:j.
Now all I need to do is find some pallets to make a compost bin:D

I've put in some onion sets and garlic, the potatoes are chitting and I have trays of cabbage, cauli and broccoli, pots of strawberries, courgettes, tomatoes, peas and beans and modules of butternut squash sitting on the steps and the picnic table/hardening off/cluttering up the windowsills, respectively. And more onions just starting to germinate (I was a bit late getting them in):o

Starting to get excited now:rotfl:(Sad, huh?)
