Ooooohhh it's chilly again today - rubs hands together in front of fire - and foggy too so I almost walked past the door!
What a lovely fire, thanks to whoever organised that, and the Irish coffee and gingerbread I am about to have:rotfl: Yes, cream on that will be great thanks........
Hope everyone had a good weekend, though maybe not quite as strenuous as Horace's  , good for you though volunteering.
I see the soup is running low, I'll just pop into the kitchen and knock up a pan of chicken/vegetable/tomato/onion or whatever else is your fancy, and while I'm at it I will make some bread rolls - which may be white/brown/granary/gluten free as you wish....:A0 -
The paperwork is still there, will have to concentrate on it though.
Loved the sea view though. Changed the venue after each phone call.
Why do people phone when I've actually settled into a "work" mode?
thanks everyone, I've enjoyed virtual elevenses;) with real coffee (keeps the calories down!);)
Am off to prepare real lunch, but will have a virtual tiramisu and virtual sfogato. Sfogato is a scoopful of vanilla icecream with a hot espresso coffee poured over it. Rather nice. Haven't any real ice cream so you folks can just go and serve me a virtual one...:D TA

Hi rosie... no you didn't sound smug at all. Anyway, i love your avatar xx
Afternoon Karen, lovely to see you!
Anyone seen Alto today? He's usually in here wielding a broom by now!
Sea view gets my vote too ME. I had a knee op a while ago and this cold weather has got into my bones, and it's giving me right jip. So a nice warm log fire and a sea view is just the ticket.
I've brought my laptop in too, as I need to get some paperwork done

<am whispering cos I don't want to wake Horace... she needs her sleep after her girl guiding weekend...........>
Edited to say - I just smelled some fabulous chicken and veg soup on the stove..... thanks Carbonel, this is scrummy.....I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
coughs..splutters and opens her eyes wide - Horace wakes up and smells the coffee:rotfl:
Nipped out to buy bread, bacon and a half price newspaper (thank you Daily Express for putting money off vouchers in the paper). Came home, chilled in front of the telly for a while (have now put the heater on:rolleyes: ). Checked my work mobile to find that I had missed two calls from the same number so rang back thinking that it was a potential client to find that it was some eejit trying to sell me some advertising space - this is the second time I have told him No! He wants me to buy some space for £700 plus VAT so once again I have told him that I am not interested, I can get cheaper space plus I have been offered free advertising elsewhere. Unless he can offer me a free advert then I won't consider his magazine, then he comes out with the sob story, well I wanted a planner - well tough this planner is skint and wouldn't waste any money advertising his magazine anyway:rotfl: He must think I am really stupid. Anyway, I am getting 3 free adverts in the Chamberlink magazine which goes out to 3500 member companies and their employees, I may submit an article for the magazine too on how I was conned by some fraudulent woman and her dodgy company and then decided to go it alone:D
Can you pass me a virtual hot chocolate with more marshmallows and maybe a sprinkling of nutmeg and I will have a large piece of Victoria sponge? Slides enough virtual money across the counter and puts a tip in the tips jar:D0 -
Sorry I have not been around over the weekend I have had a flu/cold/glandular fever relapse thing (with a wonderful migraine on Saturday that wiped my eyesight out for a couple of hours), I am sorta back though and I have brought virtual cream doughnuts, brownies (nut free) and ginger biccies. So whilst there is no cooking going on I will quickly give the kitchen a clean down ready for the evening session.Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Hello everyone, sorry i'm late, i've been for an interview, i have a new job.
"Oh are you happy about that".
"Yes, i'm really pleased, i'm made up".
"What is it, what will you be doing".

"Yes, i'm in my element".A good cowboy always drinks upstream from the herd.

I'm here; sorry for being late, but we've been into the hospital this morning to enrole darling daughter onto a kidney transplant list.....
It's been a very frantic few months since diagnosis....
If you don't mind, I'll skip the cleaning today and have a long hot black coffee please with plenty of spirit in it - and before I forget, we're back at the hospital tomorrow so another day with a clean up - but I'll make up for it with some double triple chocolate muffins with extra chocolate sauce on them ......0 -
I just read back through my post re avatars yesterday - hope I didn't sound smug or anything, didn't mean to and sorry if I did. Truth is I'm too [strike]old[/strike] [strike]fat[/strike] shy to put my photo up

Hello all, did anyone miss me?
The party Friday night went well; Reg (landlord) said he has never seen the pub so packed! I had my Witch costume, and Mr LW went as Mr Toad (poop, poop). Just about recovered now - no, not hung over, I couldn't drink anything stronger than tonic water, as I was driving!
Dragon, I'm sorry you've had such a rotten weekend. Migraines really are the pits.
And Alto, I'll keep my paws crossed for your daughter, hope she doesn't have to wait on the list for too long.
I've made cheese, Quorn and tomato quiche, and spiced pumpkin pie, if anyone'd like some.
I'll just park myself for a bit and have my usual black coffee if that's ok. *gently pushes tabby cat out of the way*If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hello everyone.
The last few days have been a bit tough going and I'm so glad I found this cafe as I can virtually get away from it all here in every sense. My OT tells me I have to slow down, but how can you when life keeps bouncing up into your face?
I don't mean to be cryptic, and I don't want to write a hugely long post either. Basically, after a few manic and busy days (car needed repairs, loo broke, OT appointment, bill paying & more), I was pretty pooped out and in considerable pain on saturday so settled down on the sofa for a good rest up as sunday was going to be busy with pre-planned things to do. My rest was shattered as dd rang me with news that a neighbour/friend's dd has passed away at a terribly young age. My mind was still reeling on it when I got news last night that a truly lovely lady I've known for about 15+ years also passed away on the same day and all parties know each other too. I'm too dumb-founded to make head nor tail of much else today as I so feel for my friends and their families.
I don't wish to be rude, but I'd really like to just sit quietly in the corner by the fire tonight. I've topped it up and so feel free to sit there too if you wish. (If I drift off, please give me a nudge if I start interrupting anyone by muttering and rambling as I sleep. Unfortunately, I'm known to do this when my mind is full ....)0
