Thank you. Yes, that's what I was worried about. Particularly the notes on what help I need, because I worry the doctor will think 'well don't you know?' But when people ask, my mind goes blank.
In the tribunal they say 'we won't ask you anything you don't know, because it's all about you.' But there was plenty I struggled on because my brain went dead.
I was asked why I needed so much help in the mornings, and then could drive to work. My brain shut down and I just shrugged. The answer is because it takes some time for my painkillers to kick in, and when they do I can function to a much higher degree than when I first wake up. But she didn't get that information out of me.
Anyway, enough rambling. I am really stressed and worried about it. I just hate the thought I'm going through this stress for them to just turn me down again.
Thanks for all your support. I must go to bed now, am exhausted!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

They may not turn you down Jaz.
Honestly, if you need the notes, then use this time to prepare them.
Hope you have a good sleep. Think about this tomorrow and try not to dwell on it all nightThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
TrIf you can make a cup of tea, don't say you can't, because you think it's a trick question.
What I am about to say is going to sound depressing:
When you're asked a question like this, think about everything. IE:
- lifting up the kettle and filling it with water (including turning the taps)
- putting the tea bag, sugar, water and milk into the cup
- stirring the tea and taking out the tea bag
- lifting up the cup, as to put it to your lips and drinking it
I would normally say "yes" but have had a few issues with making the drink. Such as:
- pouring the water over my hands
- putting too much milk / water in
- tipping the sugar everywhereSealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Evening all
Hope everyone's ok.
We had a trip to Stratford today, which was nice, although it's taken a lot out of me. I have been having some terrible hip pain, along with back pain, and it has spread into my groin, so every single step I take, hurts
DDs got to meet up with their friends though, and I got to meet up with mine, so I'm glad we went. DDs cost me a fortune mind, as they hit the shops, and boy do they love shopping
Try not to worry about your appointment on Tuesday, Jazabelle. Just be honest with the Dr and answer their questions truthfully. You can't go far wrong with that, then
Hope you manage to relocate sandy, if that's what you want. It may help if you have more support, so could be just what you need
Thank's pipkin, It is what I want I have never really fitted in here. It all depend's on DH's job now.
Hope you are feeling better soon. xSealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -
Thanks pipkin. The problem is they turned me down before, and really actually wrecked me. I try and think they will turn me down, in the hope it won't get to me as much as it did last time.
Yeah, exactly sh1305. I can make tea, but it hurts my wrists to pour the kettle, and can only do it if it's just enough water for one. Nine times out of ten I spill something, then have to spend precious time on my feet clearing it, or holding my finger under the water when I've burnt it.
Then by the end I'm too exhausted to drink it!!
Ah, such is the life we lead. Now I really must do that bed thing!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

Then that's what you need to tell them - you can do it but have issues with making a drink.
I can't always cook a meal. Have been lying on the floor at times, opening tins of beans for DDs to heat in the microwave. Not able to stand up to cook the beans myself.
When it came to the 'can you cook a meal' question, the answer wasn't 'no, can never cook', it was 'there are times when I can't cook'.
Although making a cup of tea is an effort, you would need to be truthful. I can't always make a cup of tea. I can't always get down the stairs to make it, so would say that, rather than saying that I can't make a cup of tea, period. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. I do agree with that Pipkin, but technically, if you can't do something safely, or you have to do it in an adapted way, that should still count as not being able to do it in terms of getting the award.
Jaz, thanks so much for that post of yours, it's really helpful to know that I'm not alone. Hope you sleep well, try not to worryx

Also, cooking a meal is a full meal, not a ready meal, it's with different components- say chicken breast and 2 different types of veg. Cooking a ready meal does not count as their definition of a "meal". If you can't cook a full meal 4/5 days out of 7 or similar then that should get you LRC at least.0

I see what you're saying - if you explain that you can do things in an adapted way, they will see it as you can do it, but I think the whole idea with DLA is that it is to help with things you can't do.
So, if you can't always cook a meal - and I can't always cook a meal - then you should say that there are times you can't, rather than you always can't. If you can cook a meal through adapting, then you should say you can, even if that means you wont then get DLA.
Those are just my thoughts, obviously. I would rather be 100% honest and let them determine whether or not I get an award, than stray from the truth and say I can't do stuff that I can actually do, albeit with help / adaptionsThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story.
