  • jazz i love torey hayden, think i have pretty much read all her books now, i was not very impressed with her first fiction novel though, and therefore refused to buy the second one...she seems to ahve quit witht he classroom based books and moved onto actual fiction sadly.

lw think we would manage to stop each other from being scared if we went together?

bev hope you have/had a good day.

  • I've got an interview at Selfridges! I applied for Christmas positions yesterday, and she just phoned up. There is a recruitment day on Thursday, but I'm only going for an hour, because I can't stand up all day. I'll find out on the day if I get the position or not, theres lots of role play, etc, and I have to see if I could cope with all the moving around.

Cooking sweet and sour chicken now, but I bought the chicken precut which wasn't very MSE. Am making the sauce though! I hope I can remember it right...

What does Torey Hayden write about? Does that sound really stupid? I love Jodi Picoult, I've read most of her books now. I bought Change of Heart from Ebay and it was delivered last week, I've been dying to read it for a few months but I can't find it anywhere now :S

purplecat - oh have you? Which ones would you recommend of her non-fiction? I read Beautiful Child, and ordered The Tiger's Child, Ghost Girl and One Child. Any others I should put on my list?

Saucy - she writes about her experiences of a special needs teacher. Good luck with your interview! I just sold all my Jodi Picolt books. I do often pick them up, but am getting a bit fed up of her using the same formula for every book.

I did recently just get into Erica James - she writes fiction books, but I've found them all very enjoyable and well-written.

  • I might try and find one cheapish somewhere to buy, to see if I like it. I always wanted to be a psychologist, so I'd probably find that quite interesting...It'd cheer me up a bit too! I know what you mean re Picoult, I can predict the ends of most of the books now. Although I do find it intresting. Has anybody being watching Criminal Justice on BBC? I loved that too but I've missed a few.

As a random insert, I'm getting really bad leg pains today, right in the middle of my legs. I'm used to bad joints, but not where this is...between my hips and my knees, right in the middle. It's like a pain with burning on top, and it's horrible. Anybody got any ideas why? x

I watched the first Criminal Justice and really liked it, but On Demand hasn't had the episodes every since. I was planning on having another look tonight so I can catch up. So please don't spoil me anyone!

Oh no. I think burning could be nerve pain? Perhaps something in your back is catching a nerve that goes down your leg. But obviously not a doctor, so no idea. :( Hope it feels better soon.

Ooh, they are all up now! Will watch them when my mum gets home!

It says it's series 2 though. Was unaware there had been another series!

  • It looks like episodes 1 - 5 are on I-player, or repeated tonight at five past two in the morning!? I won't ruin it, I've only seen the first episode, haha. Was the first one about the boy who had a one night stand? And went into prison? Or am I thinking about something else?

Nerve pain sounds likely, I didn't even think of that! I've taken co-codamol but its done nothing. I might phone the doctors, although being so far away I don't think he could do anything. Ow :(

Sadly, I don't think it'd help. I can't swim, and the smell of chlorine in a pool totally freaks me out - brings back horrible, horrible memories of stuff that happened when I was a kid (which, incidentally, is why I never actually learned to swim); enough to give me nightmares for a fortnight._pale_:(
I've got an interview at Selfridges!
Very best of luck; let us know how it goes.

  • Thanks LW, I hope it goes right!
I agree about swimming, I'm petrified too. Funnily enough, I used to be in the swim team, but we went on holiday when I was 7 and I made friends with the girl who was staying next door to her. Her 17 year old brother got jealous that she had a friend and he didn't, and when we were swimming, he grabbed my ankles, pulled me to the bottom and sat on me. The lifeguard was really on the ball and got me out almost straight away, but I haven't swam since. I've had some counselling, but it failed miserably.

Boyfriend is back to uni now. He didn't eat his lunch because he's so tired...I worry about him. Still don't know if he's going home tonight or tomorrow morning...whenever he does I'll hate it. Still no phone call about rent.

I'm going to start planning hampers/Christmas Cards/scrapbooks, I think. I love being creative, I'd love to be a card designer!m What's everyone else up too?
