Ahhh, trauma. I just went to accept someone's friends request on facebook, and accidently accepted the wrong person. The person I clicked yes for is a family member who I don't get on with at all, and I just don't want in my life.

I panicked and kept trying to put her on limited profile, and the bloody thing wouldn't let for some reason. So I just had to delete her. This is so going to cause family drama. :( She is going to see the friend accept thing, and then go through to find no profile. Friggen facebook! If it would have just let me put her on limited profile I wouldn't have had to delete her.

Hi, Im sams friend. I stumbled across here by accident. Sam is in hospital after going into status epilepticus last night. No one realised she had hit her head as they were trying to treat the status. She is currently having surgery to remove a clot and stop the bleeding and at the moment her chances of survival arent good.

    Hi Sam's friend.

I find it amazing how you managed to stumble upon here by accident. I find it even more amazing how you happened to 'stumble' on Sam's username and password.

As if those two things weren't AMAZING enough - I'm awestruck that you and Sam share exactly the same writing styles - right down to writing 'I'm' as 'Im', which is really quite rare.

How wonderfully descriptive! Made me feel quite hungry and jealous actually lol. Shame I can barely make it out of the house or I'd be off on a spending spree I think! I love buying nice comfy clothes as a mood-pick-me-up.

I know the feeling BZ, I had to do the planning for the trip in advance, sort out the meds, schedule rest breaks, all the guff involved that we tend to do automatically before setting foot/wheel or whatever out of the house. I was lucky to find stuff I liked, as I usually have to give up without getting anything suitable. I gritted my teeth and chucked them into the trolley in a desperate attempt to get out before I lost the ability to put one foot in front of the other without whimpering - oh, and I managed to slip a pack of tarte aux fruits and creme fraiche in the trolley too, so it was a good evening for us!

Still looking for some new fingerless gloves, but no luck yet. These things will help me loads, especially as the inflammation means I tend to get hot and cold all at the same time - I can't often manage with proper coats, either, as they get so heavy, and I try to get things that are easy to put on without fasteners or buttons wherever possible.

Still feeling rough as a result of the shopping trip. But rough and warm. (bit like my ideal man)

Whoops, just realised I put my pain was due to fibro, and not weight, as the doctors believe. Have edited it now!
I knew what you meant, cos I think you've mentioned it before ;)

Yeah, they do seem a bit useless to be honest! It’s just basic common sense, like don’t eat chocolate, cakes and crisps. Which everyone knows, it’s just doing it.
Agreed. I hate it when they say things like "they're just empty calories"

It sucks she wouldn’t help with the allergy stuff. The exclusion thing sounds hard and annoying, and I don’t blame you for not wanting to do it.
I'm sure if you were able bodied and had an organised mind it wouldn't be too bad, but bacuse I struggle to stay in the kitchen cooking a lot and the fog descends and I'm not organised with shopping or meal planning, it just didn't seem plausible. I'd rather just avoid what I think sets me off and deal withthe consequences in the meantime... Mind you, if I was more able bodied and had an organised mind I wouldn't have so much of a weight issue either...take aways are terrible for us when we're feeling rubbish about our sizes etc, but they're so much easier than cooking sometimes. Sometimes I just do not have the energy. Or worse, don't have the energy to do the food shopping that is required prior to the cooking. It really annoys me when I've actually gone to the effort of doing the food shopping but then don't have the energy to cook the fresh stuff, or forget it's there, and then it goes off and I've just wasted money. ...and I've gone off on a tangent again!

I have this huge motivation of wanting to prove the doctors wrong! They just look at my weight and dismiss me. I want them to look at my symptoms, listen, not just dismiss me.
I know exactly what you mean! I@ve been told that my joint pains (whether by my own father:angry: or my docs) are because my weight is putting too much pressure on them. I'd be more accepting of that theory if I a) hadn't had them before I put on so much weight (which the drugs we're on for the pre-existing conditions don't help with btw, talk about craving sweet stuff!) and b) the joint pains were all in my lower extremities, but actually the most frequent is in my neck (where apparently the lump found with original requirement for diagnosis of ME is) or my arms/wrists... Mind you, my faf also rells me that if I slept properly, I would be fine...when I have a recognised sleep disorder - again not at all uncommon with ME/Fibro...

I couldn’t take the appetite suppressants as I was on anti-depressants, but I gave up on those so may ask to try them again.
I was told that because the anti-epilepsy (for the fibro) and mild antidepressants (for the ME/sleep problems) both work on the brain directly, the added appetite suppressants, which would also work on a part of the brain, would cause too high a risk of CNS (I think it was) - something like Central Nervous Syndrome...which I understook to be a sort of equivalent to toxic shock syndrome for your brain. Iyswim? (I'm a bit spacey so not sure I'm making that much sense now!) So if you're not on anything like that anymore they would be more than likely reconsider it for you.
    jazabelle wrote: »
I think constant pressure doesn’t help. Sometimes I think we’ve got more important things to think about than our weight, you know?
Yep, I know exactly what you mean. And to be honest, the people I'd be most bothered about their opinions on how I look are my new husband, who loves and fancies me just as I am, and my closest family and friends - who (for the most part at least) realise that a lot of my weight issues are to do with my conditions and lack of ability to exercise properly or cook a lot... The rest of them can stuff off! I think considering I've put on so much weight and am a lot bigger now, I managed to scrub up rather well on my wedding day too, so anything else I'm not as bothered about iyswim!

But good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Argh, such ignorance. It seems not only do we have to battle every day – battle to go on, battle with our pain and to get appointments and referrals, when we get them we face such ignorance! The pain consultant I saw last told me there was no such thing as fibro. Others have given me wrong advice, or information. My GP said muscle relaxants don’t help with Fibro, which is rubbish. I’ve been told with Fibro I need to exercise SIX times a day! They don’t seem to realise that just getting up exhausts our energy!
A lot of them just don't get it. Most general population people don't either tho, unless they've either gone through something similar for themselves or been involved with a family member/close friend who has. Empathy is, sadly, in short supply these days I find:cool:
My sis told me about a friend of hers who was told my their doctor that the cure for ME was in their head, and if they decided that they were going to get better they would. It's no wonder we get such resistance when advice and opinions such as that are bandied about as fact! As for exercising 6 times a day you should've said that you'd have that covered by breakfast time: 1:getting up, 2:getting dressed, 3:coming downstairs, 4:sitting down for a rest and then getting back up, 5:making something for breakfast, 6: getting up and taking the plates back to the kitchen. ;)

Gutted. I think that if you delete them in quick succession it might not tell them that you added them at all. Besides they'll probably get the message that you added them, then just be confused as to why they can't see your profile!LOL It could very easily just be a simple mistake on your part anyway, I've done it before so I wouldn't worry too much.:)

It's amazing how these things just seem to fall into the trolley isn't it? :p I do the "I'll just put it in the trolly and try it on at leisure/when I'm in the mood at home" thing and just take it back (and then feel virtuous for getting money back I perhaps shouldn't've spent!) if it's not right. It's so much less depressing that way! And less faff too - I HATE changing cubicles - and they're always so HOT!:o

I have the same issue - and in winter particularly get the sort of carpul tunnel-esque pains in my wrists - I found some, well actually DH found some last Christmas, fingerless gloves in Wilkinsons that also go further up your arms, and sort of sag like slouch socks. I find them invaluable in autumn/winter/spring, even when I'm just round the house. They came in white, black and red and were really comfy. I hope they're doing them this year too :)
I tend to have different "weights"/thicknesses of fleeces - both zip up and over the head, and then a lighter weight rain coat so I can accomodate the different weathers and my fluctuating/inability to control my temperature. I'm the same with the hot/cold thing. It's SO annoying innit? There's always an array of different thicknesses of fleeces/jackets etc in the car too...

Some of those look quite cool :) I got a deerstalker type hat that crosses a beanie with a baseball cap, but with warm bits on my ears - made by NY so a bit trendier - before going on honeymoon to Scotland. It was a tenner, but invaluable up there as there was quite a sharp breeze and I already had earache. I also have some ear muffs that DH and MIL got me for Christmas last year along with the fingerless gloves :D
