Did I hear that breakfast is being served? In that case could I have a floury bun (buttered), with a couple of fried eggs and mushrooms (oh and brown sauce!) and a pint mug of strong tea please :p

cwta - are you starting to feel less stiff yet? and have the police (*sigh* Gordon Sumner et al! *cough* sorry) been to see you?

*passes all but the mushrooms to the dragon*

i hope that vegeboy hasnt gone quiet because a bunch of us have barged in here....

ps any tips for minimising wrist/hand pain?
  • Hello dragon. Am very stiff today but a little less achey if that makes sense. Will ring Police today - they have business cards they give out now! How is you?

pcl Do you have a support bandage or splints? Before I got the splints, I found support bandages really helpful for wrists. The only thing I can think of for hands is popping them in a bowl of warm water to ease them but that's not really practical if you plan on driving to Sainsburys *g*

  • i have tubigrips, but theyre not helping much. yesterday i stuck deep heat patches on...which helped somewhat but didnt stay stuck too well. cold water seems to help too, i cant decide if hot or cold is better...but yup not very practical and only beenfits so long as theyre in the water.

ill try chemist tomorrow see if they sell splints, tesco didnt when i looked last week hence the tubigrips before driving to sisters.

Splints have to be fitted to a certain extent - I got mine from the Physio (am seeing GP and physio this pm). Can you get your GP to refer you now as there's sometime quite a waiting list for an appointment.

  • trying to avoid gp....but i will resort to him again if necessary. saw him a couple of weeks ago because what was then only normal wrist pain hadnt recovered as normally does, and i didnt do anything to cause it this time. he basically told me i have weak wrists and deal with it. and it took two years of complaining about my knee being sore/funny to get a physio referral for that.....ill try for an appointment tomorrow and ask for referral though.
  • Good stuff. You know yourself and how your wrists feel - I always say to phyio, I'm not a medical expert, but I am an expert on me and how I feel and know when something is wrong.
For me the splints worked miracles until the carpal tunnel really kicked off, but looks like that will be sorted quite quickly as have nerve conductivity test on 6th Oct prior to operation.
If you have any loss of sensation or pins and needles in finger tips when the inside of your wrists are tapped you may be a victim of cts too. Maybe get gp to check that too while you are there?

  • Hey guys!!

I've just been to college to enrol and I'm starting in an hour! Does anyone know if/how this affects my E.S.A? It's so new no-one seems to know anything about it!

I'm doing hairdressing, beauty therapy, reiki and alternative therapies which involves reflexology and crystal healing and that type of stuff. I was only really interested in the reiki and reflexology as I thought it would be good for me to know how to do it and help myself and others in pain. When I got there though she managed to persuade me to do beauty and I thought I may as well do hairdressing and save myself some money on future hair cuts for the kids :D I also thought it might be good for me to be a bit more active now that these tablets have improved how I feel. It sounds like I'm doing a lot but I'm going to be doing a full day on a Monday, a Tuesday morning and a Wednesday afternoon. Don't know how I'm going to get on because I'm used to being more academic but I don't think I've got the ability to retain information anymore so don't think I'm quite ready to go back to University just yet.

I've just had a mango chicken sandwich and a cup of tea. Yum yum :D
