Lamewolf: You are kind....The company directors' meeting was still going on when I left today so I won't know if I still have a job until Sunday. Sigh.
Part of me doesn't want to be unemployed, our local Jobcentre is like hell on earth, but part of me hates the job and redundancy would give me a chance to move on without quitting the job and wrecking my CV.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
I've had a lovely day today. :j We drove to a nearly loch for a walk in the woods, past an old mill and then back through an old village. Absolutely gorgeous. It was pouring hard, but this didn't dampen our spirit. We have good waterproofs. Then we went back to the car and had soup. Bliss! (We try to have lots of almost-free days out. We walk a lot and are getting quite good at window shopping too. We will survive the economic downturn!)
And my diet is going well. I have 1 stone, 1 lb to lose and I've lost 3lb so far.
Life feels good at the moment. I've been off the anti-depressants for nearly two years now. Hope I can keep it up.

Morning all!
Well done Ally for staying positive. Hope the outcome is the one that is right for you.
Hope everyone is doing okay? I am finally beginning to turn thr corner with the dreaded flu-type virus that I've had since mid November. I still have a chesty cough, but am feeling better in myself. The depression seems to be lifting too - though I am sure that has a lot to do with me being able to walk around outside and see the sky yesterday for the first time in ages. Oh and the little matter of a trip to Turkey also seems to be buoying my spirits... strange that....
I have just had some real-world porridge for breakfast (well done me!) but am still peckish so I'll have two slices of toast and marmalade and a HUGE skinny latte, pleaseI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Still no news on the redundancy. The boss who knows who's staying and who's going didn't come into work today...and no-one else was authorised to tell us. It's quite clear that the company doesn't care a fig about its loyal employees.
I also did a few calculations and discovered something interesting: I work 30 hours a week over 6 days for minimum wage and get some benefits. If I dropped down to 16 hours a week I would only be £5 a week worse off over all because I'd get more benefits. This means I am basically working 13 hours a week for nothing! If I stay in a minimum wage job I might as well not work full-time. (This is mad!!! No wonder there are so many lazy smurfs out there. It doesn't pay to work!) Of course I would sooner go back to a well-paid profession if I can, but it's food for thought.
I'll have a hot chocolate please.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

Oh dear, Ally, it must be a real worry. Whatever the outcome, once you know one way or another, you can start planning your future. I hope you hear soon, so that you know where you stand.
I'm feeling a bit the worse for wear today (overdid things at the wekend, and quite a bit of stress in my life just now) so a nice, soothing Hot Chocolate for me please. And some toast with chocolate spread, I think.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Ally - Is that due to working tax credit with the disability element? If you don't mind saying. I'm in the same situation, working more hours isn't financially worthwhile but I think that's a good thing for me because working more hours makes me more ill - so it eases the guilt. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

My job is safe. I'm going to look for another one anyway, cos the one I have is rotten, but at least I've not to go down the Jobcentre next week!
Thanks for your support folks. Much appreciated.
After all that stress I'm away for an early night.
