Unconfirmed Paypal Address

Options
I have just sold something for over £400 on eBay and the guy who won has an unconfirmed address. I know not to send internationally to unconfirmed but im unsure about the UK. the buyer has paid straight away and is from the UK, his email address is very similar to the name it should be posted out to, but in this case im unsure of what to do in this situation.

Any ideas, am i still protected by paypal?

ok the only thing i was thinking was to send by royal mail special delivery, and if something goes wrong i may be able to claim insurance. If that doesnt work i have no idea what to do apart from cancel the agreement.

I have checked his feedback and its only 7 positive however he has recently bought something for £200 and already bought things for over £1000 with 100% feedback.

Biggest problem im thinking is the its located in the Royal Marina Quays up north somewhere, and according to google, this seems to be some sort of shipping address

why don't you log into paypal and look at the transaction by clicking on the DETAILS button, then it will say Unconfirmed, but it may say that the transaction is eligible for seller protection. since they have changed the system i have had two unconfirmed addresses which have been eligible for seller protection.

It also tells you what you need to do to be protected (ie, tracking etc)
Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone! just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

Seems you are right there chompie, it says eligible for seller protection, does this mean that as long as i comply with the things such as tracking i am likely to be protected if this buyer complains about fraud.

Hello, Yes you are right with paypal's new rules as long as it says 'eligible' then you will be fine. If i were you as soon as you have the tracking number (make sure you send Special Delivery) then logg the tracking details straight onto PayPal this way they have them straight away if something does happen.

    Regards

Makes no difference what you do with the money, you must ship within 7 days of payment to be covered for seller protection and that means the money is unlikely to have reached your bank account anyway.

Marty J has posted a very useful post about the new rules on paypal, you can find it on the sticky thread 'useful tips'.

  • Hope the following is useful it was taken from a recent ebay anouncement

From 7th October, eBay.co.uk sellers will no longer need to post to confirmed addresses in order to be eligible for Seller Protection. PayPal is also making several other improvements to Seller Protection, such as removing the annual coverage limit and more. Learn more about Seller Protection.

    Excellent thanks for that.

Turns out i posted the item to him on Friday exactly as i said i would as well as usage instructions. On the first day he emailed me about a problem with regards to do with the phone and it seemed like it was bricked. I helped him sort this problem out.

Now he says he has been using the phone since the first problem and is now saying that no reception can be found with the phone and complaining about different things that i tested before sending. He now wants a refund, where do i stand with this now  ???

If it is faulty he could do an item not described claim through paypal. You need to prove it was working prior to dispatch.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
