bmw dealership haggling

I did not know that such high discounts were available.
Hope you don't mind me 'hijacking' this thread, but I'm looking for a BMW 325i M Sport, probably about an 06 or 56 reg with about 20k on the clock.
I will be buying from a main dealer, who seem to be charging from between £15k and £17k.
Should I expect to be able to negotiate much of a discount?
shazkhan, did you ever buy your X5?
Cheers0 -
After reading through your thread I'd personally aim for at least 10%.
But the important thing is not to rush and buy the first car you see. In this economic climate large 4.8 litre 4x4s aren't selling like hotcakes. If the dealer won't budge then there are probably 10 others that will - and like another poster said, try playing dealers off against each other.
Be brutal and don't feel shy about it, after all its a buyers market - especially with large premium vehicles.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

Shop around a lot, Sytners usually good for doing keen deals.
Cars built from September 2007 onwards have the new efficient dynamics technology which has a 325i returning around 39mpg, lower emissions and cheaper tax disk. Also the auto box seems to hit performance and fuel economy a lot less.
You might want to call in on https://www.bmwland.co.uk , my other online "haunt" for more info.
8% on new cars, 10% on used should be achievable, may be better.0 -
what sort of discount would apply on lowerend cars, ie: screen price £3650?0

Depends if it's well priced or not! They might knock you off £500 and you'll be thinking you're getting a good deal when infact you probably still paid over the odds.0
