wonder if anyone can help me.
in the process of purchasing a used car from a main bmw dealer, can anyone advise on their experiences to haggle and any discounts that they have been able to negiotiate?
As a percentage what is a good offer to make and as for as a
reduction?

Depends on the car. If it's a desirable one like a 320d or 520d then discounts will be harder to come by. If it's a 5 series petrol then you might get more. If it's a 6 or 7 series petrol then you could get thousands off.The man without a signature.0

Know the TRUE value of the car you want - check Parkers guide www.whatcar.co.uk & Autotrader & anywhere else.
Then you'll at least know if their one is overpriced, or correctly priced, or a bargain - they do sometimes need to shift stock!!
& make sure it's not being inflated in price, for all the opptional xtras, the previous owner chose - they aren't worth more than 10% of their cost, when new.
Even less, if you wouldn't have chosen them!!

PS If it's an X5 petrol, they'll be paying you to have it!! A couple of months bacck there was pretty much a ban on buying these in, for sale!!!0 -
it is a x5
fully loaded 4.8
Has a body kit, which is unique, what sort of a premium to parkers/whatcar value can they add to it for this?0 -
Does it have blacked out windows and chrome wheel arches...?
When you say a bodykit? Do you mean running boards?0 -

A bodykit would probably devalue it:rolleyes:
I would like to thank you for living upto stereotypes shaz:D0 -
thanks guys
i'll sort it out myself0 -
The point about bodykits, as made above, does really depend on personal taste, or sometimes lack of.
The premium paid for this 'extra', does sometimes devalue, rather than add value.
But if you like what has been done to the car, that should make it more attractive to you, pricewise, as well as style wise.

Very fair point
Dealers are desperate to get rid of X3's and X5's and similar vehicles due to the new tax rules
Definitly a buyers market, reckon you will struggle to see many on forcourts though as the dealers wont have been buying them in0 -
20% really?
I was going to ask for 10%, didn't think a bmw dealership would go for any more considering what they do to it to sell.
Car is 3 years old....20% would take off £4000, thats a lot, or am i wrong?
Anyone had any experience of bargaining with a main dealer0
