Here's hoping he gets a job very near and can give up a car :D

I *could* walk to work (but don't :o) and my petrol consumption has plummeted. I have a lovely 10 year old jap car - thoroughly cheap and reliable (a bit like me?)

My car is cheap and reliable too and will be paid for this year. If i have my way. I just wish there were easier solutions, bugs the hell out of me that it has got to this and i know i am focussing a lot of energy on it. After all it is only a lump of tin.:rotfl:

aww bob hope your brain hurts less today...cars are hugely expensive arent they eh! hve to have mine for work as all over the place...problem with leaving mr bob to arrange surely would be that it wasnt done and you'll end up doing it anyway?! anyway hope its sorted...exhasting all that thinking isnt it eh!

Well the old brain is in overdrive, felt a bit empowered by it all really in a, 'here we go again kinda way!'

Think we have a rough working plan re the car and getting to work for us both, the good thing is that although Mr.B has to travel a distance it is mostly static and can be done on the train. Over the summer hols that won't matter as i can get work to tide me over locally ( non teaching and marking work) If it comes to it can buy a cheap car to tide over which won't cost an arm and a leg, which will be better for us financially as we save short term.

Mr.B even got on the phone and negotiated, good grief!!!

As i said yesterday a spreadsheet and SOA sheet works wonders. Plus he knew he didn't have much choice..which is probably the reasoning behind it anyway.

    Have a good day everyone.

Well, seems like things are going the right way, bob - today at least. Hopefully this will be the start of him getting things sorted properly...

I am hoping it is the start of something good Hypno. At least i don't feel alone in this anymore, although i get great support from this site and all the folks on it:T
I also know it is not going to be plain sailing and there will be a lot of ups and downs, but if we stick to the plan even if we wobble then it will get there. I am now aiming as Essex Hebridean suggested for May 2012. For some reason that really struck a chord with me, so Mr.B will be totally debt free by then.
    Some other targets.
A seperate account to be set up for Petrol and travel.
Joint loan will be gone in August 2011 then monies can be targeted to what ever is left.

Joint overdraft will be gone in the next couple of months but will leave in place as a backup.Frees up overdraft fees of £35:o:o Who says they are a cheap alternative? And i don't use the account, but all bills go out of it.

My car will be gone by Christmas at the latest, frees up another £168.:T

    Brain aches now...............:rotfl:

£35 a month on an overdraft  But yes, people don't realise that they are actually almost always more expensive than a credit card! Just because it has the words "authorised overdraft" doesn't mean that it is cheap!
