I think it would be worth going for...but check the paperwork for the car he has now and see if they charge excess mileage.0

Why are you getting rid of it if you need two cars?...or will it be cheaper for him to get about on a bus etc.
He can't get to work on Bus as is the other side of Manchester and is difficult for him to get a train as it is two trains and wouldn't get him there on time. He needs to trim the budget and that car is the bane of my life as it has cost him a fortune and he has had two accidents in it which also cost excess. Plus he traded my old car in for it and i had to get another one:mad:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

No they don't had a check on that one. His is an 04 reg and had 10,000 on the clock when he bought it.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Me too Taxi as it is down to me to do all the hunting on the internet to get the best deal. I am happy to wait a couple of weeks after he has returned the car and see if i can get work locally. Or within a commutable distance, after that he sorts hs bloomin self out on the car front.:cool:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Just worked out that the car has cost him to get to work £19,600 not including petrol for holidays or parking costs around and about or excess damages etc.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I hate the cost of cars and the running of them. We sold our second car last year, as OH has a motor bike that was costing a fortune to sit in the garage - after all, you can't drive a car and a bike at the same time, can you? But yet you have to tax both, insure both, maintain both, MOT both, etc.....
It is a bit of a pain having to share one car - because it invariably means I end up doing the running around of the kids while he travels by bike to work etc, but it has saved us a LOT of money over the year we have been without.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. That's what i want to do is save the money. My car being a small one is very economical to run as i went to Cornwall and back for £50 ish in petrol admittedly that is motorway mileage and not town mileage.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

We also got rid of our second car last year as it was hardly ever used.If I didn't have to have a car for my job .. I wouldn't have one as it would be cheaper for the very few times that I would use it to use a bus or taxi but I am very central to everything so could walk...and shopping could be done online.
I guess that you have to weigh up all the options and pick the best one.0 -
