Oh BOB, I'm so sorry to hear this! Do you think it could be a confidence thing? Maybe you are 'waiting' to be called out again for DD when in reality its not going to happen?

I'm sure it just a lapse but probably a chat with your GP about it may well make things seem easier to deal with.

Take care and lots of :grouphug: from the twins and I xx

Hi Bob, I'm so sorry you're getting these, they're horrible..... just trying to think about panic attacks, but don't want to use any jargon. I think they happen when we get overwhelmed - you've got a lot of issues on the go - sleeplessness, struggling in the relationship at the mo, DD2, missing your DD down in Cornwall, the debt of course, the work itself. And I hate to say it, but are you perimenopausal? It could have an effect. Diet could too, too many stimulants - even cups of tea can add up.

Its crazy what we overlook. I was having a terrible time last year with my stomach, awful diahorrea (never can spell that word). When I stayed in France with my sister, it was particularly bad, and she noticed that *everything* I was eating was very high in fibre. I knew it, but I didn't think you could have too much - well, you can. Thats why I now eat white basmati rice, for instance, not brown, white pastry not wholemeal, blah blah. Its not great, but its much, much better than it was. It still goes the same way if I freak out emotionally, but it always has.

The other thing is, what to do if you *do* get a panic attack - its just piling insult on injury to be angry with yourself. I actually get people to "listen" to themselves - is there an inner voice, can you visualise the panic, what's the message its giving you? That can be really helpful (it doesn't mean you're nuts! Its perfectly respectable, its called working with sub-personalities if Mr Bob wants to know).

And there's really basic first aid - small bottle of water, mints, brown paper bag to breathe into and reduce the amount of oxygen getting into your bloodstream.

Hope I haven't overdone this, feel free to ignore any and all, I just hate to think of you suffering.

  • Thanks for the advice KC, i have looked it up on the internet as well. I think it is down to going into overdrive really. The perimenopausal thing is interesting though..is 45 too young?( even if i am an old thing compared to some)
I will go to GP's on Monday as i don't want it affecting my life. Interesting about the fibre bit. We have to be careful with diet because of DD2 but we tend to go for low fat/low sugar variety of foodstuffs and wholemeal /organic where possible as well. I homebake a lot, due to not trusting ready made foods so i try and be aware of what is going into ourselves...and as you know i like to grow things...
I do drink a lot of tea though(3-4 cups per day) and have a policy not to have a cup of tea late in evening and stick to calming herbals..
I have been looking at visualisation techniques as well.

Weirdly enough have just taken DD2 to emergency docs as there were some problems ...and another viral infection has materialised..lol, she had a nasty rash and breathing probs. Life sucks at times..

Bring on a few Trolls to have a bash at eh?

Hi Bob, glad I wasn't wildly far off the mark. Overdrive can easily bring on panic attacks, you just kind of go too far - its like revving an engine too hard when the car's in neutral.

I forgot about visualisations! They can be really good. But ... breathing problems - thats *got* to be scary. I hope thats sorted.

  • Thanks it was down to her throat lining being inflamed, hurts to breathe so she shallow breathes..Glands are up again and she already has an appt with GP on Thursday to discuss blood tests, so it will be monitored then.

I don't have time to be ill myself ..lol

Yep, that *does* sound horrible for DD ....
I don't have time to be ill myself ..lol

Um, I know that thats a truism about mums, but what is *also* true, and much more rarely recognised, is that if you sweep stuff under the carpet, sooner or later the carpet looks bumpy cos there's so much stuff underneath it! :o :A

That is true. I am one for *never* bothering GP until on my knees with stuff. I was told off twice last year for it:o But i hate to go and then it is nothing or fobbed off and dismissed as trivial..
I am probably the same as many folk..having had some truely awful GP's in the past, it takes a while to trust..and i *know* i have to go to GP in order to trust them:rolleyes:

DD seems a bit better now and has eaten something. So that helps:o as her blood sugar gets too high when not eating properly and of course she has to have insulin when eating, so is a viscious circle at times.
