Coop Bank - Unethical

However one must be careful about the distinction between racist and unethical.
It may be unethical that Barclays invested in the apartheid regime, but that does not by default make it a racist bank, it just means that they invested in the regime in force at the time in the country for commercial reasons.0 -

Nail, head, etc.
The same flies for Zimbabwe - we had long standing business relationships there, as we do for most of Africa - see Absa, Barclays Bank Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, etc. It's unreasonable to expect us to cut our losses and run the minute things go pear shaped, especially in a continent as historically unstable as Africa.
The fact that a country we trade in has an oppressive regime does not mean that we condone or support their practices, nor does it even remotely mean that we employ racist policies - and I'd challenge anyone to provide an example of us doing so against a prevailing social mindset. What would William Shatner do?0
