:o Umm, not sure if on correct thread for this, but I've got a Goodmans GHDD1785DVBT which has developed an odd problem - thought I'd post here as I think it's same machine. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction if I'm wrong!

 All the titles of the programs recorded before 22nd June have disappeared.
They still appear to be there, as the disk space is still showing as used with 30 hours remaining. When I recorded another episode of Dr Who, it showed up as Dr Who 7, so the others must be there somewhere! I can still record, and new names are showing up, but can anyone tell me how to get the old ones back so I can watch them?!

I'm not very techy, and it doesn't help that I've 'temporarily misplaced' (!) the manual. :rolleyes2 :o Any help would be welcome though!:D

    Many thanks.

When the Technosonic PVR101 was first sold last December with the initial version 1.0 software version many Users reported "dissappearing" recordings and recordings re-appearing on the Recordings List after they had been deleted. However, these bugs were cured with the first software update at the end of December 2005. I don't recall any reports of similar problems since. AFAIK the Goodmans units did not go on sale until about March 2006 so were all sold with later software which should not have had this problem.
Can you confirm which software version you have (the latest is 1.6)? To check you you go to Menu/Settings/Configuration/Receiver Upgrade.

There is a thread specifically for the Goodmans version of this PVR here:-

I think I bought it just after they first came out - possibly in April. It has version 1.6. Do you think there's anything I can do? If I can't get the recordings back (not important in the grand scheme of things anyway!) should I reformate the hard drive to get back the recording space?

Thanks for your help - and for the link too. I'd tried doing a search on that site and couldn't find that board!

Sorry I don't know the answer to your problem. I have not heard of it happening before. Reformatting the HD is the solution when you lose all your recordings if the HD becomes full so I would think it would be worth a try in your case. You won't recover your recordings though.

Regarding the link to the Digital Spy thread it should work if you click on it or paste it in your browser. The thread title is :-

Thanks anyway. If I can get registered on Digital spy I might see if anyone there can help before reformatting. (Having trouble with the registration activation - guess it's not my week!)

  • Last night I too lost all my previous listed recordings, although they still appear to be taking up the space. I think it happened when I had to switch the machine off and on to deal with the NO SIGNAL fault. I am rapidly losing patience with the Technosonic, and my husband has long since taken his back. I think it is a dead easy machine to use, but I am SOOOOO SICK of the NO SIGNAL message

It's not a common problem. I'd bet the only recourse is a format to get the space back.

    Using 1.6?

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the on screen display? I could do with it off when recording over to DVD.
    Thanks
    Ian.
  • Yes, it is 1.6.
At some point I will have to reformat, as the disc space is down to 20 hours. Most of this season's West Wing are on there as my husband missed a couple earlier on and has never sat down to catch up - the last one was numbered 19! Now I don't trust it to hold on to recordings , so feel like I have to watch them quickly.

I think that 20 hours remaining is quite a lot. I regularly get down to 3 or 4 hours remaining but try to keep to about 10 hours remaining if possible. Thers are 12 hours of T in The Park on this weekend though so I will be backing up to DVD most of tomorrow otherwise I will be completely full!
    Ian.
