Can I complain about Daughter's Driving Test?
Comments

That is not a fact, it is just your opinion and and has yet to be decided by the DSA after it has taken all sides of the story into consideration from both parties i.e yourself and the driving centre and examiner where the test was taken.
It is fact. The DSA have confirmed to me that she should have been given the appropriate special needs test. My daughter's driving instructor has confirmed to me that this didn't happen, as did my daughter. This is what actually happened and is fact. In what way is this just my "opinion"?0 -
Point 1. Still no facts posted then!
My daughter was at work in the day on Saturday and Sunday and Im so sorry if I didn't interrupt my evening relaxation at the weekend to grill her on your behalf. She is at college today but I have given her sheet to my other daughter to intepret for me and I will post her failures if thats what you want.espresso wrote:If she was asked to reverse around a corner into a side street, she obviously understood the instructions given but then failed the manoeuvre which is a serious fault resulting in a test failure.
At what point did I say she failed on this manoevre? She wasn't even given a minor for her reverse round a corner. I mentioned this in a previous post because my daughter had been nervous at the type of corner she had to reverse round. However, she obviously did it correctly.espresso wrote:The DSA investigation may look at the test marks and decide that because she failed on things when she obviously understood what she was expected of her e.g. no one would reverse around a corner without being instructed to do so, just for the hell of it.
I haven't asked the DSA to investigate her marks - I have asked them to investigate the fact that she wasn't given a test appropriate to a special needs person, when they agreed that she should have.espreesso wrote:Are you even going to report back to this thread with the outcome of the DSA investigation, as you have not received the advice that you wanted?
No one is sniping at you, if they decide to refund the test fee, fair enough but taking the test obviously cost more than just the test fee, so are you then going to claim for the driving instructors fee and her loss of earnings while out of work etc?
I will truthfully tell you what the DSA decide, even if it doesn't go in our favour. I think the DSA should also refund the cost of the driving lesson and use of the instructor's car, but I doubt very much if they will. I will be happy just to get the test fee back quite frankly. The day she took her test was a college day so she has no loss of earnings.
Can you see how all your comments that I have just addressed are based on a lot of assumptions by yourself? You seem quite keen to make arguments based on what you think Ive said rather than what I have actually said.0 -

It is not " fact " because of any of the above.
Your Daughters Instructor was not there, The DSA have not yet made a decision, that only leaves what your Daughter has relayed to you, which will be obviously biased to her side of things.
So no actual " facts ".0 -

The DSA may have confirmed that she should have been given the appropriate test, but until they have had the results of an investigation at the test centre by the senior examiner and the examiner that took the test, as neither of you were in the car for the test at the moment it is just your and her driving instructors opinion.
They will listen to both sides of the story, for all you know the examiner may well say that despite what your daughters claims, which incidentally I do not doubt, the examiner conducted the test in a correct and appropriate manner, in which case you will not be entitled to a free retest.0 -
You can only take what people say as fact on forums such as this and then reply accordingly. Continually arguing about whether someone is making something up is a waste of time. Do you usually get proof from people on other threads before you join in with a debate?
.
That is usually because the individual concerned is the actual person involved, not a " third party " relaying second hand information.
At least then the individual can then be questioned, to establish their version of events.0 -
Driving Test Report
Controlled Stop - 0 (0 meaning she got no minors)
Reverse Left - 0
Turn in Road - 1 - Control
1 - Observation
Vehicle Checks - 1
Move Off (safety) - 5 (this is her fail mark as she had S ticked)
(control) - 0
Use of Mirrors - Signalling - 1
Change Direction - 2
Change Speed - 3
Signals - necessary - 0
correctly - 1
timed - 0
Progress - appropriate speed - 4
- undue hesitation - 3
Juntions - turning left - 1
The moving off, going at appropriate speed and undue hesitation were because she was unsure which way the examiner wanted her to go.
However, the above is irrelevent as she wasn't given a test appropriate to her special needs, as I keep saying!0 -

Well this may well be a factor in the DSA investigation.
At what point did I say she failed on this manoevre?
Well when this was mentioned previously in post #109, you did not say that she did.
She wasn't even given a minor for her reverse round a corner. I mentioned this in a previous post because my daughter had been nervous at the type of corner she had to reverse round. However, she obviously did it correctly.

Can you see that you have actually given very few facts yourself?
You also seem to forget what you have said e.g. "What makes you think she needs to be told to use her mirrors?" and then tell us that "She marked her down for not looking in her mirrors" Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
My daughter and her driving instructor have both spoken to me to tell me that she wasn't give a special needs test and yet this is still "just my opinion"? Shall I ring the test centre myself and ask them if she was given a special needs test and see if they know anything about it, because both my daughter and her instructor must have got it wrong?
Actually, no, I will let the DSA do this.0 -
Wig, you have obviously never heard the saying " there are two sides to every story ", we only have one side here, that is second hand information at that.It is not " fact " simply because somebody tells us it is.I never make a judgement on biased half stories, nor do the DSA, however you clearly do.:rolleyes:0
