Can I complain about Daughter's Driving Test?

What subject are you talking about?
The subject of this thread and the posts herein.
You have no knowledge of how the DSA Complaints System functions.
You have no knowledge of how a Driving Test Centre functions.
You have no experience of the Driving Test itself, other than when you took your own test/s.
Yet you make critical comment as if you do, you accuse others of " ignorance " when it is clearly you that is ignorant.0 -

Ah! but you have to remember that Wig is an expert on everything, or at least he thinks he is.:rolleyes:0 -
Two posts now since my post #109 that you have not answered.
- My daughter has been at work all day today and so I can't tell you what she failed on as she has the sheet with the marks. (I don't want to post from memory as I'd rather put the actual facts rather than what I think).
- Her instructor did give her mock tests.
- What makes you think she needs to be told to use her mirrors?

and of course the same could be said of you.
So three posts in this thread of over 100 posts makes me look like I am trying to be an expert, as an ex driving instructor who has many dealings with the DSA I think I am more qualified to comment about examiners and the driving test than Wig, and also have a more knowledgeable idea of the workings of the DSA though he would have you believe otherwise.
I tried to point out that you may not get any compensation, just because it is not what you want to hear you do not like it, and because it suits your needs you would rather believe someone that has demonstrated by his complete lack of understanding of how the DSA works, how examiners are trained and also how driving tests are conducted and pupils react understand test conditions, indeed in his first post in this thread he as much as admitted that he had never heard of the Driving Standards Agency, I think the old term 'barrack room lawyer' is more appropriate.
At least I do not try to hijack dozens of threads on these boards by posting bad advice and opinions which are quite often just that, his opinion, but then he likes to try to make out he is an expert on just about every thing under the sun.0 -
All of which is totally irrelevant to the main issue of an entitlement to refund that a service she was entitled to, was paid for but was not provided. The DSA admit this. And you, espresso despite being pulled up on this many times have refused to address this point.
The issue of her driving skills is a side issue and seems to be the topic you favour above all else - for no good reason that I can think of. You appear to like attacking posters on insignificant points. Her ability could have been made worse by the failure to get special needs instructions and the increased stress caused by the attitude of the people she tried to ask about it.
I really, really cannot understand why you want your daughter to pass a test that puts her in the most dangerous place in the world unless you and the examiner (who knows far better than you) is absolutely convinced she is capable of dealing with it. I didn't take my driving test until I was 24, after many, many hours of lessons, and the first time I pulled off a slip road onto the motorway I forgot to check my mirrors and nearly got myself killed!!

Because, obviously, I believe she is capable of dealing with it! I have been with drivers who have been driving for years who have scared me to death by going through red lights and driving too fast and taking risks. I have also been with people who are very careful, thoughtful drivers and my daughter comes into the latter category.
I talk about her special needs and in explaining it, it makes her sound like an imbecile. The area of the brain that causes her difficulty is the same area that causes people to be dyslexic and she is the same as any dyslexic on the road, probably better.JoolzS wrote:the first time I pulled off a slip road onto the motorway I forgot to check my mirrors and nearly got myself killed!!
Perhaps it is you that shouldn't be on the road.cajef wrote:I tried to point out that you may not get any compensation, just because it is not what you want to hear you do not like it
It isn't that I don't want to hear it (what makes you think that?). I have spoken to someone at the DSA who has said they are looking into it. So I may get a refund. Of course, I may not, but you telling me that I may not doesn't make any difference really does it?cajef wrote:So three posts in this thread of over 100 posts makes me look like I am trying to be an expert, as an ex driving instructor who has many dealings with the DSA I think I am more qualified to comment about examiners and the driving test than Wig, and also have a more knowledgeable idea of the workings of the DSA though he would have you believe otherwise.
We only have your word for that. Just like I have been grilled about my daughter's test and her special needs on this thread, (as though Im making it all up) the same could be said of you. How do we know that you are what you say? As Wig said, we have to assume people are telling the truth and answer their queries accordingly otherwise we could go on all the threads in this forum and ask people to prove that they are butchers/bakers/policemen/special needs etc. There is a huge lack of understanding about special needs on this thread which is why everyone keeps asking if she should be out on the road.
I asked for advice at the beginning of this thread but I no longer need it. I have rang the DSA and they are either going to refund or not. Nothing anyone says here will change that. Nothing anyone says will change the fact that I know my daughter is fit to be on the road and is also special needs. So continually sniping at me to prove your own point is fruitless now.0 -

I don't see you jumping with enthusiasm to answer the point I made to you, in my last post to you. That you repeatedly have ignored the main issue, a special needs service was not provided, and therefore a refund would be appropriate.0
