help needed! can this laptop be sorted?

where do type in chkdsk? do i do that with cd in? i am just wodering because it is only with the cd in that the laptop will go beyond the widows logo screen . if i do the file repair do i try and find the image kerenel32.dll file only when i tried this yesterday i couldnt find it.any ideas where it could be

ok i found where to type in chkdsk c:/ f and it came up - the drive specified is not a local read/write drive

ok i got it to runit came up correcting error in index 130 for file 6057 twice
then said index verification complete. then it came up chkdsc is recovering lost files
then came up recovering orphaned file and stuff after it 10 times.now it isnt doing anything. there is just a - flashing under list of recovering orphaned files. what do i do now

if i take cd out it goes back to the original problem either sticks on windows loading page or if i go in safe mode or last known good configuration it comes up with the imagekernel32.dll may be corrupt thing. has the laptop had it or have you any more suggestions

it wont do 4- (system file checker ) and i have done 2 and not managed to find kernel32.dll. where will i find servicepackfiles

i have run spinrite and can now get past windows logo screen but then a blue screen comes up saying chkdsk.checking for consistency.then it comes up unspecified error and then reboots. any ideas?
