Not had the best MS day today. It started OK with a couple of banks, both politely attempted to sell me a new account as requested, so money for old rope I was thinking.

Then I went to a stamp shop. Was interested to see one of the counter staff pretty much yelling at the old lady that he was serving. Luckily enough he was serving me next. He was so rude! Refused to accept a parcel as it had staples on it, then when I asked him if he would put some tape on it, told me to go to the shop counter and buy some, charming. Also told me off for putting sellotape on another parcel to make the stamps stay on, so wouldn't accept that one too. It's the first bad stamp shop MS I've done, so was surprised.

Then I came out of the shop feeling cross, and saw that whilst my husband was waiting outside, someone had reversed straight into his car. Nightmare. Fortunately he and my DS were both OK, but the woman that had hit him was trying to say that she couldn't see him!

Thought we should try to do the second stamp shop I had down, and that didn't go too well either. The lady sent the parcel by the wrong service, gave me a receipt for one of the items not the other, and took forever, doing everything v slowly and sighing to herself. So another unglowing report unfortunately.

Never mind, tomorrow is another day. I should be pleased really that the poor service is being picked up on, but am worried that they will try to deny it and it will be a lot of hassle.

    Oh dear!

I think these days just happen every now and then. Especially with MSing, if you're having a bad day it just seems to get worse!

At least you got the nasty little !!!!!! in the stamp shop so you could do a report about him. I love it when that happens.

Totally unrelated; look what I just found on the smilie list - thought it was quite funny! :EasterBun
  • Hi all, just a quick question... It's my 1st week of MSing and was all going ok, UNTIL... got to the phone shop I was doing for GFK and I know the consulant so had to cancel it :( but called them and they are still going to pay me, so all is not lost  !!

But this evening I have done a pub meal for RE, and was wondering how to claim for expences. I have the receipt for the food, but obviously not for drinks, so is it ok to claim the full amount, or should I be honest and claim for the actual price (which is a little bit lower)? There's not much difference in this one TBH, but would like to know for next time.

    Thanks x

I have a tax question, it suddenly hit me that the nightclub job I did last week I only got one receipt - for the entry fee... it isn't really possible to get receipts for the drinks and the cloakroom ticket that I HAD to purchase as part of the job... Not sure what will happen on my tax assessment though, can you claim for expenses if you don't have a receipt? Seems a bit unfair to have to pay tax on it :/

How did everyone else manage this on their tax return?

Don't worry about it - you couldn't get a receipt, so fine. It's not like you have to send them all off to the tax office at year end or anything. It's just good practice to keep all your receipts in case you were ever investigated. Can't see the [STRIKE]amounts[/STRIKE] oops, pittances that most of us earn on here ever attracting tax office scrutiny!

i just take the amount in cash which i will be reimbursed. i can't get carried away then! you will probably win a few times which will build your chips up but cashing them back in takes some willpower!

you may get a free £10 bet on roulette as a new member. i put my bet on black and hubby put his on red. unless 0 comes out you will win, so that gives you an extra £10 before you get started!

Not quite right. The casino's RE does begin with the name G. The bet in roulette on black or red or odds and evens is a minumum £10 bet so I wouldn't recommend that.

Please be gentle but I wondered if you more experienced MS could give me some advice. I have done a few Mystery Shops for Retail Eyes and GFK and understand the system and process. This evening I received an email from GAP Worldwide (who I forgot I registered with) stating there were shops in my area. I logged on and after ticking my location I could see a **** and **** shops available.

I am interested but I just have no clue how the process works with GAP. I have checked my Profile and it has bank account number outstanding but no where to put sort code etc. I clicked on the **** job and read notes and see the is a section to answer qualifying questions but do not know what or where to go next.

May I ask for someone who knows GAP to explain how you conduct the admin process from accepting to reporting please? Thank you

For most jobs on Gap you need to do the qualifying questions section that has the mortar board on it. You also have to answer pre-qualifying questions along the lines of "have you worked for this firm in the last no. of years" etc. Then you'll be allowed to accept a job.

You select the date you want and then click something like "submit", which then puts it in your basket. You can then "view basket" which gives the option to change the date or release it or accept it etc., by confirming you agree to Gap terms and conds and then it goes on your schedule. It will then be confirmed and show as such when you click on "my assignments" and you'll also get an email to that effect.

Can't remember the bank details bit and their website is currently down so can't check for you.

Sorry I can't help it....but that explains why you've made £21 in MS so far in March and I have made £397.00 - I don't mean to blow my own trumpet but I try not to waste time on cr*p jobs.

There's no need to be so rude - since I have only been working for MS companies since February, they don't offer me the good, high paying jobs just yet, and I also have other things to do with my life besides MSing.

  • Strongly suspect I might have been rumbled on the pub job I did tonight. It was one of those TNS ones where you have to ask for receipt. Well, I tried to pay be debit card - apparently the bar "doesn't have the facilities to process such a payment." So, had to pay by cash. Then, when I asked for a receipt, turns out... you've guessed it, printer is broken. The brief for this job was adamant that you had to get receipt. In the end, I got a hand-written one.

I think I might have been less obvious if I had come in wielding a clipboard and wearing a flashing "Hi, I'm a mystery shopper" badge.

Got three phone shops tomorrow, plus another pub job in the evening. Hopefully one where I'll be a bit less obvious.
