Hi, I'm new to this and have been offered a job. My only problem with it is that it states that I can't take children on the job with me. The problem is I have a 10 month old son. Would I get away with taking him after all he's just going to be sitting in the buggy and more than likely be asleep so I can't see what difference it would make? Should I risk it or just pass the job up?

What kind of job is it?

It's not a new thing for TNS to stoop to this low. For the last 2 years or so they've had a coffee shop for no fee and people were lapping that up. Drives me mad as it makes the situation worse for all mystery shoppers

Has anyone done a hotel stay where the hotel is only 1 1/2 miles from home?
I am not sure whether to use my mums address to avoid suspicion because wherever you might be going, a taxi home is cheaper than a hotel overnight! If you get my drift lol.

I stayed in a local hotel with my husband on an MS job. It was next to a nice restaurant, so we thought we'd treat to ourselves to a nice meal and drinks without the bairns as we rarely get out much, and make a night of it.

Got to the hotel and the lady saw our home address and I'm sure she thought we were playing away. It was all "nudge nudge wink wink" behaviour from here, then she offered to ring for a takeaway so we didn't have to leave the room, and gave us a pervy sort of grin. I felt really crap and really just wanted to walk out and abandon the job :o
Here I go again on my own....

Personally, I would take a baby in a pram along. As long as you can devote your attention to the job (maybe difficult with an older toddler running off etc), then I can't see the problem.

I konw someone who works on retail and he says that when they get MS who give a bad review it is something that the managers look for on the CCTV. They identify the shopper and then try to discredit the report so it will get reshopped.

Things they look for are timings being incorrect, if the toilets were actually checked etc, One thing that they are often successful at using to get a reshop is children. As in they will contact the MS company and say, How did she possibly notice this that and the other when she came in with a baby who was crying and wouldn't settle (even if the baby was sleeping). The MS company I imagine would contact the shopper and ask did you take your baby with you, the manager saw you on cctv? If questioned you would have to say yes and then might not get paid.

Sorry this is long winded just don't want anyone to get stung by taking kids on assignments thinking it will be OK.

Is RE quiet for everyone or just me?

Also, I've signed up for Tern but they want me to do a trial shop? Is that normal for them?

:rotfl: nice one lol. I'm afraid that I chickened and gave my Mum's address. Couldn't be doing with awkward questions & such like. The spend is good but it specifies 2 main meals & 2 drinks for the evening. We won't come any where near the budget, so I think I will go for a bottle of wine & dessert & see if RE pay  .

Yes it is normal, I have got to do one at some point but I will do it when I am in town anyway. It is a really easy one.

As of this second, RE is dead for me, I can see a whopping 4 whole jobs and my area is huge as I travel a lot on business. Not sure if I'm on the naughty list again though, I've released quite a lot of jobs lately because I'm miffed with RE in general. I pick up their jobs usually to get myself a free lunch whilst I'm out on business or doing jobs for other companies that pay a reasonable fee.

That said, I did a fragrance shop for them this week that took me a whole 5 mins, paid a good fee for the time spent and I got a bottle of something I wanted at the same time, so that was a bonus :)
