I thought that - are they seriously paying nothing, for the privilege of a coffee?

I thought TNS were better than this; they're stooping to new lows.

It is mean of them, but I've got four other jobs in the immediate vicinity of one of them, so don't mind doing it as I quite like their coffee & cake!

Thank God I'm not the only one who feels that way ...

Definatley only worth doing if you are there anyway. Looks like RE is really changing the market for mystery shopping, undercutting everyone. I don't mind not getting a fee for a pizza meal, but not worth leaving the house just for the coffee. Hopefully there are lots of ms'ers that can do this in their lunch break

I cannot see any hotel stays in RE. I have done loads of them last year so maybe they have placed an embargo on me :-(
  • I did a job for RE today and the place I went to had an offer of 10% off everything; they didnt give me this discount and RE said I can't go back and ask for it. Grrrrr. Oh well. I can't complain; it is a good deal anyway and I still made a profit for once!!

I kind of struggle to understand why they would, though. I mean, if you have a job then you are one of the lucky ones. I mean (not sure if I can explain this the way I want to, without sounding like I'm all bitter and twisted)... I am looking for a proper job but not having much luck so I'm doing MSing as a way to bring in a few quid to help make ends meet. As such, I'm not too keen on the jobs that don't pay a fee, as I'm doing this to earn money. If you already have a job, then I would guess you are better able to afford a cup of coffee and why put yourself to the trouble of having to write up a report just to get a free coffee? I can understand it if you get a decent meal for 2 but no fee, that's kind of an understandable trade off. But a coffee????

Also, as someone who is doing this as a 'job' I must confess I'm increasingly worried at the direction fees are heading.
  • I'm with ya, SC. I did a Spanish job with no fee because of the perk of wine and lovely food to a generous budget, and I did a clothing shop with no fee because it meant I got a free top I wanted anyway, but generally speaking I need the money so need the fees.
  • Call me fussy, but I would only do a no fee assignment if there was a decent meal on offer, not just for the sake of a hot drink.

I'm half expecting those assignments to end up on one of the "can you help us out at the last minute" emails we sometimes get from TNS. But maybe shoppers who have other assignments in the same area will take them?

it's not so bad to take a no fee job if you are going to the particular shopping centre ect anyway but i i don't think anyone would go out of there way to do it. you would have to pay for parking to get into the places where the cafe was.

i would assume the cafe have regular visitors every week so maybe these people will take the jobs.
  • Hi, I'm new to this and have been offered a job. My only problem with it is that it states that I can't take children on the job with me. The problem is I have a 10 month old son. Would I get away with taking him after all he's just going to be sitting in the buggy and more than likely be asleep so I can't see what difference it would make? Should I risk it or just pass the job up?
