Maybe we should just take a replica gun on these shops so when you get a pratt like that we could threaten them.:rotfl:

  • That's what I thought, might give this one a miss then! Not overly comfortable with revelling I'm a mystery shopper either!
  • Hi everyone, I have a few questions about mystery shopping (and in particular TNS) that I need advice on.

I've just applied for my first visit and it's been allocated (appearing in the my visits section of TNS). On the brief it mentions purchasing alcohol beverage along with "other products of choice." Does this mean that I am obliged to buy other items in addition to the alcohol? It also mentions "You can take a maximum of 10 visits /7 per day." I don't understand what this means, the time allocated for the visit is only a few hours?!

Also, I haven't applied for self employed tax yet (as this is my first MS job.) Can I wait until after my first payment to do this?

    Sorry for all the questions!

Question 1. Buy the alcohol specified along with anything else you fancy. They will reimburse you up to the spend limit they have specified - if you don't spend the (for example) £7, you will only be reimbursed for what you actually spend, so it is to your advantage to spend exactly the spend limit, or a penny or two over.

Question 2. You can only do a maximum of 10 visits for TNS, or for this client (this bit is unclear from your quote - probably TNS being unclear again.) You can only do 7 visits per day for TNS/this client. What you have accepted counts as one visit - each visit will have a unique ID number.

The question about the tax has already been answered! (And although you don't have to register until you start work, I would register once you do this job, as it is plausible that the company could take almost 3 months to pay you!)

I've done over 60 of these Think 21 visits (yes I'm the only 18-20 year old round these parts :p), PM me if you need to know anything ;)

P.S. you're not from Milton Keynes are you?
  • jobbingmusician thanks for the advice, will have a read of the first page of the thread over the weekend and try and get my head around the tax. No doubt I'll be asking you guys even more questions then! :o

iNath - 60! Impressive!! The brief seems pretty straight forward, I'm worrying about how to find the place more than anything! No I'm from Wales, I won't be stealing any of your visits ;)
  • If you've recently accepted jobs on RE for a certain pub chain, they've released it from your account (same for everyone) as they released the jobs too early in the first place. I went on and found 2 jobs missing and rang up to ask and this is what I've been told.

  • Now RE had put those jobs back in accounts but you need to reset the job date.
