The Mystery Shopping thread - part 6

Business use is for delivering etc, if you use it to get to the shop then its called communting, and most, if not all, car insurance standard packages incorporate this as standard.
Not strictly true and its a bit of a grey area - I have Business Use added to my Car policy for MS Work as I travel around the country with it. The definition I was given a few years ago is if you get paid mileage to do the work at different locations then it is business or if you carry goods related to your business - technically shopping is carrying goods as well. So discuss with your insurer to be on the safe side as you can struggle to justify why you are commuting to a shop 40 miles away from your house ....
Usually commuting to and from work in a Car Insurance policy only counts when it is one fixed permenant place of work, ie your main job only.0 -

Ah, maybe its different per insurer then, as I double checked that mine would be ok.0 -
I wouldn't believe that if I were you; Mike's right- commuting's definition is that you're going somewhere on a regular and predictable basis- you can't commute to every MS you do.
Unless it's in your policy paperwork that your definition of commuting is correct; I'd add business use to your policy. Mine comes free with my policy anyway.0 -
Thanks for the replies re car insurance. I don't think I'll mention it as I don't do many MS jobs, and the ones I do are close to home (or when I'm on my way to somewhere else).
Would there be any problems with tax regarding not having business/communting insurance and claiming mileage?0 -
Be careful if you are doing MS work with no business insurance.
If you have an accident and the insurance company find MS paperwork in your car, it might invalidate your claim.
As it costs either nothing or a few quid depending on your insurer, it's worth putting on for peace of mind. Here I go again on my own....0 -
 eeek now I've searched the forum!
I did what I think was meant but still can't see the job I was alerted for. I was on the reserves list on abai for a job, but I it is not there.
I logged in and released them from my list and then searched for it. But it's not there. I have also tried searching booked jobs and none are coming up for anywhere!!! Can anyone help and advise what I've done wrong or what else to do?
Thanks:A The toughest form of mountain climbing, is getting out of the rut! :A0 -

Thanks Becles, I'll look into how much extra it is.0 -
Forgot to add - its "business class 1" cover that you need. That covers yourself and a spouse to drive the car in connection with your business. Here I go again on my own....0

Hi all,
Thanks the advise you all gave me for registering etc. I have my first burger job for GAP tomorrow so I'm up and running! Can I just ask a quick question?
I have read the evaluation sheet and am not sure on one question - with reference to food quality, you are asked if the dine in meal was received as ordered - what if you are not dining in? The answer options are only yes or no. Or do I just ignore that?
TIA your help is very much appreciated for newbies!SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
