recipe for a christmas type desert wanted

Toffee and ginger go together well, so you could have a sticky toffee and ginger pudding. Last year I ate at a Wagamamas for the first time and had their ginger and toffee cheesecake, so I decided to try and recreate that for Christmas Day dessert. Was quite pleased with the result - took me ages to find a similar recipe though, all the ones online that claimed to be like it had been baked and the texture didn't seem like that to me.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame
Love is a losing game0 -
We all HATE Xmas pud and I have experimented with lots of things over the years. Used to have a nice cold lemon mousse pud which was lovely and light so you might just be able to squeeze in a mince pie too, but in the end we now always have a vast fruit salad. It's a pain buying the fruit and not cheap BUT I set the DDs to making it on Xmas day morning. The kitchen gets very sticky as do they, but it distracts them from all the chocolate, and whining about when they can open presents (we do it after lunch mostly) and if you buy nice interesting things it's the perfect end to a BIG meal. There must be enough to have some with the turley sandwiches in the evening though !0

im not too keen on christmas pud, but often have a steamed sponge with sauce, usually a chocolate sponge with a chocolate sauce with cream or custard.
a family member once made a really nice rich chocolate cake with chocolate sauce which could be a good alternative or how about a gatou (sorry about spelling im not very good at certain words), even a nice straberry or black forest gatou.0 -
3 of us eat Christmas pudding, the other 2 have a chocolate gateau.
It's about having what you want for such a special day - so what do you really fancy?:jFlylady and proud of it:j0
