any dessert you really like! The point of a Christmas Feast is for people to eat food that they love, that perhaps they wouldnt any other time of year! eating something seen as traditional Christmas fare for the sake of it is not really in the 'spirit of Christmas'.
So, eat whatever you want hun and dont worry that it isnt 'Christmas Food'!

I get a fake xmas pud from MrT... at least I think that is where I found it... Anyway, it looks like traditional pudding but it's chocolate pudding with chocolate chips inside and it is divine! I have it with rum or brandy butter :D

We normally buy a sticky toffee pudding, but there are plenty of recipes out there if you wanted to make your own!

I agree with having a pudding you love. In winter I think it's nice to have a hot pudding, but if you really wanted real dairy icecream and posh chocolate sauce, then why not?
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • do a stem ginger steamed pudding, that's still quite festive.

  • I always do a trifle for those who don't like Christmas pudding, and it is nice and light after a huge dinner.
Maybe you could make a flummery or syllabub, using Christmassy ingredients, such as apple and cinnamon or snowball syllabub they are both light and very easy to prepare
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

My DH and DD2 don't like xmas pudding, so on christmas day I always make a chocolate sponge, a microwaved one that only takes 5 mins to cook. You can buy luxury ones ready made at christmas that are really nice and extra special.

I don't think it matters if you have xmas food on xmas day...all that matters is you have something you all enjoy that is a little bit more special, even if it's just the table has been decorated crackers!

We don't like anything too heavy after Christmas Lunch - plus I'm the only one who likes christmas pud anyway.

I got the Asda Christmas Food Guide last week and had a flick - purely for ideas, I might add :o - and rather fancied their Lemon Roulade and/or Profiterole Gateau (depending how many I need to cater for) - both serve 6 and only £3 each :j. So no dessert cooking/prep for ME this year - part from taking out of freezer and opening the boxes :T!

On a few occasions, when I've had quite a few to feed, I've done a Baked Alaska. Not really much of a faff to prepare - and very easy to assemble when you're all feeling ready for dessert - as long as your 'cake base' is already made. You can even leave the oven on (turned down) after cooking lunch and whack it back up again when you're ready to put it in the oven.
  • Thanks for the replies all!

    Lost of ideas there!

I fancy something stodgy and gingery (I love ginger) so I may make an amalgamation and create something unique!

    Thanks everyone!
