  • I seem to remember that a lot of these recipes (i.e. the ones from her Christmas TV series) were on the bbc website - and I've just checked and some are still there, so you might not need to buy the book. However, speaking as someone who has two shelves full of recipe books in the kitchen, I certainly wouldn't mind getting this one as a present! I can especially recommend the apple & cranberry chutney, and also that weird chocolate fruitcake with prunes. Sounds v odd but tastes delish, and very quick compared to a traditional Christmas cake.

Forgot to say that I'm going to try the chocolate fruitcake too. I love the way it's decorated with glitter and gold balls.

Got it last week and it's brill!! I have already made the Christmas chutney and put it away to mature but it smelled lovely!! (made green tomato chutney and that took weeks to stop smelling of vinegar: this smelt good from the offset!!).

Next task is the chilli jam.....
