Haven't read that one but has quite good reviews on Amazon.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nigella-Christmas-Family-Friends-Festivities/dp/0701183225/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223830654&sr=8-1

I have a few of her books and am quite tempted by this, even if you don't do much cookery they are a nice read.

I have just gone online and reserved a copy from my local Library. I have done this a few times with cookery books amd will then decide if I want to buy.

I've got it (admittedly because I wanted the recipe for tortilla soup more than anything else!), and it looks good. Much less rigid and stressful than Delia... more about enjoying yourself. If you like Nigella's books I'm sure you'll find it useful.

If you have other Nigella books already, I'd be wary that this book is just a rehash of the other ones - Feast, Domestic Goddess and Express all have Christmas sections in them.
  • I bought it from Waterstones last week and have had a quick flick through. Many of the recipes are featured in her other books, so if you have all her others, you may find that there isn't much new in here. However if you are looking for a book with all her Christmassy stuff in one place, you will like it.

There are lots of lovely pics and some nice 'gift recipes.' I made some of her spiced peaches last christmas and had some with some gammon last week. They were delicious

My DSis gave it to me yesterday - part of my Christmas present :D

Nigella has repeated recipes, but she has adapted and updated some too. There are new recipes too. I have to say, I enjoy her style and enjoy reading her books, so I will recommend this one. There's a really nice chapter on HM foodie presents, a timetabled Christmas lunch planner - although I am not aspiring to cooking as many dishes as she does

Try and borrow a copy if you aren't sure if you will use it. I have to say that I will use it for Christmas and probably all year too. (There's a lovely alternate Christmas day recipe for pork that I want to use for New Years Day already.)
  • thanks all justordered it, i do like nigella have the express and feast books but only wish i was a domestic goddess!!

    thanks guys

I have spent literally all day reading it.

    Fab fab fab book :D
  • I brought it yesturday its fantastic.

My hubby made the pecan plus pie last night as it was so nice. The pastry from it was so easy and short. I will be using it to make jam tarts later on.
  • I've decided that I'll be making several of the recipes to give as gifts this year.

    Gotta love Nigella :D
  • I bought it -I just can't help myself:rolleyes: It is a lovely book but as with most of the cookbooks I buy I probably won't use it that much. But I get a lot of pleasure from reading about food and cooking.

I am going to follow her instructions for cooking the turkey this year. We normally have goose but it's very expensive and you get very little in the way of leftovers. Nigella brines her turkey (soaks it in salted water for a couple of days with other things -oranges, herbs). She also cooks it for less time than is normally recommended. I thought I'd trust her and give it a go although after an undercooked batch of cinnamon buns from Domestic Goddess at the weekend I'm not so sure...

It is £15 in Waterstones. If you like Nigella and beautiful photos then buy it. I like her writing style too. She's the only food writer who uses words I have to look up in the dictionary (you can't say that about Jamie Oliver or Delia) -abumbrated and simulacrum are two that I had to look up.
